Hi
Hi Mike,
Sorry our first meeting was not so good lol
It's nice to see someone with some real knowledge on astronomy in here.
I really do have some questions, but can't seem to find answers, so hope you won't mind me asking a few !
One of my trains of thought is concerning your thesis actually, so maybe you can cast some real light on it for me. It's mainly concerning horizons, and the point stated so well in the big bang page. The other part is to do with whether or not there was one or more than one big bang, basically if we are in a multiplicity of bangs, each one limited to its own galaxy. As for the Horizon question, as it rightly states the time taken for the light to reach us is so long that I can't see how we can estimate the weight of matter in the universe/s if we don't know if it's still there or not.
Nice pics from the Hubble deep field, and also the first from CERN LHC although they didn't really get many images out (i think it was 3 - all of collisions with the collimator) before it went kaputnik lol
Nice to meet you and hope it goes well with your studies so we can call you Doc !

Hi again - sorry you are so busy
That makes perfect sense - homogenous and isotropic - I didn't realise it was done on that basis. So I suppose it could be the case that some areas are more or less dense - we'll have to wait till we get proper space travel, and I suspect by that time we probably will be long gone in a volcanic/meteoric/disease event lol
The LHC gave three pics, although I must admit I am confused as to what they are after reading your note. They come from the Images -> Particle Collision Tracks -> LHC, but state "One of the first images from CMS, showing the debris of particles picked up in the detector's calorimeters and muon chambers after the beam was steered into the collimator (tungsten block) at point 5"
Anyway, they are pretty, not at all like the images I am used to seeing of a cloudy bulb with a few tracks on it !
Hope the workload eases - I found the Jodrell bank site v interesting, I was friendly with a local man near my home in Manchester in the 70's, he had a huge great refractor in his garden, and we used it many times, even looking at Jodrell once ! I seem to remember it took about 10 minutes to sight it and get the weights stabilised - wonderful to first see the sun and draw it's spots. Amazing thing.
cheers --Chaosdruid (talk) 23:20, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks and a request
Thanks for signing up at Wikipedia:Peer review/volunteers and for your work doing reviews. It is now just over a year since the last peer review was archived with no repsonse after 14 (or more) days, something we all can be proud of. There is a new Peer review user box to track the backlog (peer reviews at least 4 days old with no substantial response), which can be found here. To include it on your user or talk page, please add {{Wikipedia:Peer review/PRbox}} . Thanks again, and keep up the good work, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:56, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Trudi Canavan Priestess of the White cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
