Francisco Balagtas Elementary School (FBES) is a public elementary school located at Ipil Street corner Alvarez Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila which was erected in honor of Francisco Baltazar, a great Filipino poet. The school was hit by a fire in July 2007 engulfing almost the entire school building.[2] Many historical antiques and masterpieces which were then exhibited inside the school museum was forever lost and destroyed during the blaze.[citation needed] The school is considered as one of the oldest elementary school in the City of Manila.[citation needed]. FBES is included in the umbrella of the Division of City Schools in the City of Manila.
