I didn't even know about it. A friend introduced it to me. Hvn't read the books, but got to know the game 'go'/'weiqi' etc. I actually prefer chess to go. My own opinion.Chessmanlau 09:25, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Man I was so sad that it ended at volume 23, but I picked up go which is a super cool game. -Unsigned
Where is the source of the series not succeeding in U.S. markets blurb? WhisperToMe 23:56, 12 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I love the manga, I learned about it at my school library and am just about to finish book 10. I have also started playing the game but i'm not very good and I have nobody to play with :[ Devilz-fury (talk) 02:59, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Manga ending

The manga then ends cyclically, with Sai's ghost once again asking "can you hear my voice?

I don't think that's what necessarily happened... I find the ending intentionally vague: it doesn't have to be Sai that comes back as a ghost. It might as well be Hikaru - in fact it would make perfect sense: remember that part where Sai thinks to himself that in the long path to the Hand of God he existed for the sole purpose of helping Hikaru get closer to it and in turn Hikaru exists to help someone else? I'm not changing the article until I hear other people's thoughts on this though... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.205.213.20 (talkcontribs) 18:32, August 10, 2006 (UTC-6)

Maybe that whole part should be taken out...sounds like original research to me.-Giant89 03:34, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the original Japanese, I think it's pretty likely that it's Sai. The font used is the same one that was used for Sai's dialogue. More convincing is the language style - it is the same polite style that Sai uses, and the same personal pronoun (watashi, whereas Hikaru uses ore). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.233.78.228 (talk) 05:47, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is likely that (unverified, from Chinese articles found on the web) the comic enraged the Korean fans. To settle the matter, the comic publisher let Japan lose all rounds instead of having all three countries have equal result, and suspended the comic production altogether. 218.186.8.11 17:07, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If that's true, it's lame as heck. That just makes it so Hikaru is really just a loser without Sai, which makes the anime ending better, since the future is unknown. 63.198.192.181 19:58, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree-Hikaru no Go is a pathetic anime series, and I'm baffled that it actually made a hit. What a boring story! Hikaru's talent is accidental and out of reality-without "Sai" there is no story. ChockStock 22:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You've missed numerous plot points in the story that make it clear Sai has been placed on Earth to develop Hikaru's hidden potential. He becomes a brilliant player in his own right, and a great deal of the satisfaction derived from watching the series is to see the moments Hikaru's growth is made clear, to the viewer and to the powerful players that surround him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.50.173.202 (talk) 07:59, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merges

Several merge tags have been added to character pages. I think these character pages are long enough to have their own articles. --Squilibob 07:28, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please review guidelines for the inclusion of fictional articles and wikipedia's style guide for writing on fiction. They do not meet the notability criteria for separate fictional articles. There is no encyclopedic treatment and the summaries are not consise and they do not break the size guidelines just yet. The only reason I didn't merge right away is that the cast list section also needs to be merged into the characters section per anime guidelines. --Kunzite 12:04, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Squilibob. We should put at least 3 main characters to separate articles and I do think that each char has enough info as long as we summerise and mention all the events through the slot span. If not, it would be unfair for them. Let's make an example of Naruto. Even very minor char appearing only 3 or 4 chapters or char with very little appearance in the story have their own articles. Kuwabara Hon'inbo VS. Hon'inbo Kuwabara

Which is the character's name rendered by Viz? I think the page has it wrong, but not 100% sure. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 07:59, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is rendered "Kuwabara Hon'inbo" - "Hon'inbo" is a title and Kuwabara is a family name. In Japanese he is also called "Kuwabara Hon'inbo" In the case of Hon'inbo Shusaku... Hon'inbo is the family name and Shusaku the given name. WhisperToMe (talk) 08:34, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lesson after ending

There is a short go lesson in the each episode, with Umezawa Yukari, 3th pro dan that time. Don't sure about english-translated series, but I seen it in the original japan episodes. Nothing found about it in the article. -- NZeemin (talk) 17:52, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Who is this character? Someone wrote 'from Hikaru no Go' on Kaneko (disambiguation) but I can't find any character on this article to redirect the name to. For now I've redirected it to the general article, if somebody could find a more specific section and maybe describe the character (if they exist) that would be helpful. I've only read the first volume of Hikaru and I don't remember this character so I can't do it. Tyciol (talk) 23:38, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ogata, Judan

I submit that Ogata's name above his character section should have "10-dan" replaced with the Japanese "Judan" for the reason that "Judan" is not a literal rank; it is the name of a title of which he is the current holder (for the duration of the series). His rank is 9-dan; there is no such thing as a 10-dan. -- see http://senseis.xmp.net/?Judan, especially the sentence "Challenging for the title warrants a promotion to 7-dan, actually winning the title promotes to 8-dan, and finally winning the title twice gives an immediate 9-dan promotion." If it were a literal "10-dan" rank, then winning it wouldn't guarantee a promotion to 8-dan, would it? :) 72.84.200.91 (talk) 02:08, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aoki

There is no information about this character, but they are listed in the voice cast. I haven't seen this anime so could somebody write up a summary about him and update redirect Aoki (Hikaru no Go) to it? Someone listed him on the Aoki disambig so I'm posting a link so people can find information about him. No full name is listed on this page, but if he has a last name or title that would be useful. Tyciol (talk) 15:23, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't find in the Japanese page either. Maybe a minor character. kazu (talk) 18:20, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Aoki is one of the characters is Touya's school's go club, the one who was third board until Touya's inclusion in the club. -KagamiNoMiko (talk) 08:44, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
