Simon Rolfes (born 21 January 1982 in Ibbenbüren) is a German footballer who plays for Bayer Leverkusen. Rolfes wears the number 6 for national and club play.
Career
Club career
Rolfes started his senior career at Werder Bremen after progressing through their academy. He made exactly 100 league appearances for the club and managed to notch 18 goals from his defensive midfield position. He spent a season on loan at SSV Reutlingen from 2002 to 2003, making 13 appearances. In 2004 he moved to Alemannia Aachen and played 28 times in his one season there. In 2005, Bayer Leverkusen signed him and since then he has made 113 appearances and scored 19 goals.Rolfes suffers knee injury on July 2 2009.[1]
International career
He made his international debut for the German national team in a friendly against Denmark on March 28, 2007.
He was part of the German team that finished as runners up at Euro 2008. He started in the quarter final against Portugal in Basel which Germany won 3-2, and started the semi-final against Turkey, also in Basel and also won by a score of 3-2.
