User talk:Jeffrey O. Gustafson
Just as we have an obligation to the Truth, there is a greater obligation to our roles as citizens of the world - and sometimes that means compromising the hippy-dippy (and increasingly antiquated) philosophies of the Project in favor of protecting Human Life. The recent suppression of information was antithetical to the Project's core values... this does not mean that the act of suppression was wrong, but that there is something wrong in militantly sticking to these "values" and something truly, profoundly wrong with people willing to sacrifice a Life not their own because of a WEB SITE.
In any event, the editors are the engine of The Project, Historians and Journalists are the fuel. If we contribute to a situation where Journalists are put in danger, then we endanger the Project. Above all else, we are Human Beings first, and an encyclopedia second. Most people seem to be fine with this. Those that aren't can fuck off, frankly. We've got real work to do. --Jeffrey O.
