Tral is a town and a notified area committee in Pulwama district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Geography

Tral is located at 33°56′N 75°06′E / 33.93°N 75.1°E / 33.93; 75.1[1]. It has an average elevation of 1662 metres (5452 feet).

Tral is a township which is 10 km away from National Highway(NH-1A).It is surrounded by mountains and lies in the lap of nature. Tral is known for Natural Springs, both hot and cold. It is amazing that some springs remain hot in winter and cold in summer. It has certain adjacent areas called by the name Kuchmullah, Nadar, Aripal, zuwastan, narastan, laam, naagberan, they are the most beautiful villages in pulwama district. (Source:waseem fauji)

Demographics

As of 2001 India census[2], Tral had a population of 11,607. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Tral has an average literacy rate of 80%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 45%. In Tral, 7% of the population is under 6 years of age. tral tehsil has only one degree collage,but it is so far from tral that students donot prefer to go there.
