The Collector is a Template:Fy Template:FilmUS horror film written by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton and directed by Marcus Dunstan. Originally entitled The Midnight Man, the script was originally intended to be a Saw prequel, but the producers did not want to do a prequel.[1]
Plot
A burglar (Josh Stewart) breaks into an empty house with the intention of robbing a safe. Unknown to him, a masked madman has already laid claim to the home, taken the family under siege, and filled the house with all sorts of lethal traps. The burglar is faced with the moral dilemma of fleeing or saving the family. However, escaping proves to be much harder than he ever coul.d have imagined.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn ,,,,,,,,,,

The Collector, distributed by Freestyle Releasing, will be released in the US on July 31, 2009.
Reception
Bloody Disgusting reviewed The Collector, and gave the film a 3.5/5. The review noted that The Collector is "a raw, gritty and uncompromising horror film that puts the previous SAW film to shame." The reviewer also believed that the character of the collector had the potential to become a new horror icon.[2]
Goofs
One of the TV previews caption "the perfect crime", yet the zoom of the doorknob with tools show the pick tools in the wrong configuration to pick a lock.[citation needed]
