"Crying Lightning"
Song

Crying Lightning is the first single from Arctic Monkeys' third album Humbug. It was first played on Zane Lowe's show on BBC Radio 1 on 6 July 2009 and was then made available on iTunes. Physical copies of the single will be available on 17 August, one week before the release of the album.[1]

It debuted at #12 on the UK Singles Chart on the 12th July 2009.

On Thursday the 30th July 2009, it was played during the Arctic Monkeys Web Transmission.

Music video

The video debuted on Channel 4 on July 24, 2009.

The music video, directed by Richard Ayoade (who worked with the band previously on the video for "Fluorescent Adolescent", as well as their "At The Apollo" live DVD), shows the band performing the song on a boat on a rough sea. Towards the end, four figures rise up out from the water - these are the band members.

B Sides

Potential B-Sides for Crying Lightning have been named as "Don't Forget Whose Legs You're On" and "Catapult", the latter being producer Josh Homme's favourite song from the recording sessions he helmed. The two Japanese bonus tracks from the album - "Red Right Hand" and "I Haven't Got Are My Strange" - are also available as digital downloads.
