concert

I am a Christian and loved the song "I can only imagine" the first time i heard it on the radio - like a lot of other people I know. I bought the CD and enjoy that too. I've played it hundreds of times. I heard Mercyme was coming nearby to put on a concert and got a group together and we all attended. Sadly, not enough tickets were sold for the concert to be held in the sports arena as had been hoped by the concert sponsor. (I felt very discouraged that our society can sell-out secular rock star concerts but not a concert by quality Christian bands such as are on the Mercyme tour). Anyway, the concert was moved to the city's very classy and historic arts center - and then it was nearly a full house. I loved the setting myself. The trouble was - and I apologize if I sound too critical - and maybe I'm just getting old (I'm still a baby boomer mind you) - but the bass was way too strong - and my heart was actually hurting as the pounding of the bass ran from the stage to my row nearly in the back of the auditorium, up my body and into my chest. The friend sitting next to me was in his 60s or so and I'm sure he was thinking the same thing I was: "This incredible vibration from the bass may cause us a heart attack". I couldn't hear and/or understand most of the words of several of the harder-rock songs. I had brought my daughter and her friend, both age 12. They are both Christians, attend church each Sunday, Sunday School and attend church summer camp each summer. They both profess a sincere love for Jesus. Yet during this concert, my daughter kept asking me what time it was and 'how much longer' before we could go home. I held onto the hope that I would hear the full rendition of "I can only imagine" like I hear on the radio. But that was not to be. The audience was asked to sing the chorus of this hit with the band - but we never heard the piece performed in its entirety. God Bless this band and the work they do. But nobody's perfect - and we can all use some touching up here or there. Maybe it just wasn't the concert for me or my elementary-age daughter and her friend. A lot of the 20s crowd was going pretty wild, I'll admit. But a feeling of spiritual closeness to the loving God I know, sorry I didn't leave with that. I do believe that the band members are Christians and want to spread God's message to the world. I'm just wondering if some of the harder-rock songs couldn't be toned down a notch - and the words would then be heard and the meanings of the songs better appreciated. I am keeping your son who was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and your family in my prayers. I received much enlightenment from the book "Let Go and Let God" by the Christian author Albert Cliff (written in the early 1950s). Perhaps this book could offer some encouragement to you as well. This is written with a spirit of kindness - though I know I sounded critical. I didn't mean to. Just wanted you to hear some feedback from someone from a different kind of audience. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Question&think&change (talkcontribs) 07:21, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's all fine and good, but this is a discussion page for the article on MercyMe....not a discussion page on the band itself. ++Arx Fortis 14:27, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

should have no space

I'm pretty sure it's spelled without a space: MercyMe, not Mercy Me. -Grick(talk to me!) 05:38, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct. The group name is "MercyMe" not "Mercy Me". I have moved the page. Arx Fortis 14:11, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Singles List

I'm trying to update most CCM artists with Singles list, and how well they have done. If anyone knows how well the singles did on the Hit Christian Singles or Hit Christian Contemporary Music charts, please replace those question marks with positions. Casey14 21:54, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Changed the peak chart positions for Here With ME, and Homesick to what I believe is the correct positions according to Billboard. --cattrain 06:48, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

alkaline trio

there is a song by a punk rock band called "mercy me". are they refering to this band in the title?--strightedge777

Poor article?

I am not making any comment on the band's popularity, ability, or focus - this article sounds more like a magazine article than one fit for an encyclopedia. Someone who is truly knowledgeable about and cares for this group should make a quality effort to improve this article. Ericfassbender 06:24, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Religous Backround

One thing that really bothers me is that their is not more on thier religous backround.I presume the band is christian of course but what else like.... denomination, and religous belives. i hope some one can file this gap alittle better.

Bus accident

From the "Bus accident"-section: "News reports stated that the band remained silent during the days after the crash, not contacting the family of the deceased and injured [1] in what many thought to be a perfect opportunity to show the hands of Christ, and at least be encouraging." The last sentance has to be the most un-wiki thing I´ve ever read. Come on... Who writes this shit? Threedots dead (talk)
