Background

Founded in 1991, Everest is a private, independent Catholic School offering co-ed education for preschool through grade 2, and gender-specific education for grades 3 to high school. Everest offers students a seamless path of education from preschool through high school on one campus. Everest is located on a 90-acre campus in Clarkston, Michigan.

Integral Formation is the hallmark of an Everest education. The four pillars of this model include a challenging academic curriculum, character development, spiritual formation, and apostolic projects. Using this strong foundation, they teach, educate and form all aspects of the child.

Personal attention, small class sizes and a gender-specific approach enables Everest to challenge children in an environment that best serves their unique learning style and helps to achieve their full potential.

Everest Mission Statement

Founded on Catholic principles, Everest forms responsible Christian leaders through a balanced program of competitive academics, sound spiritual formation, strong character development and service to others.

Everest Vision Statement

Everest's vision is to be recognized as the school of choice among Catholics and community leaders wanting the best education for their children. Everest’s goal is to set the competitive standard for quality academic, spiritual, character and apostolic formation, that other schools, Catholic and non-Catholic, strive to meet.

Pre-Kindergarten

Everest Academy welcomes young learners and educates them in family-oriented environment. Teachers open young minds to exploration and discovery.

PreK 3 sets the foundation by nurturing socialization and classroom conduct. These opportunities equip the child early with the skills needed to succeed both socially and academically.

PreK 4 furthers socialization and classroom behavior skills while exposing the children to an interest and love of learning. Preschoolers are introduced to the phonetic sounds of each letter and begin to learn word connection. Through small classes and teachers who promote an atmosphere of learning, children explore the rich array of academic subjects that will become part of their future educational experience at Everest Academy.

Lower Elementary School: Kindergarten, Grades 1-2

During these early years of growth and childhood development, special attention is given to the individuality of each student. Every teacher at Everest Academy strives to teach the intellect, to educate the heart and to form the will, with consideration for each student’s personal talents, motivations and circumstances. Since the good habits and attitudes formed in these years remain through adulthood, Everest Academy aims to help cultivate honesty, dedication, cheerfulness, reverence and perseverance.

Students explore and discover their individuality in Kindergarten through second grade. Excellence in reading and writing are a priority, with a phonics-based language arts program that builds strong reading skills in Kindergarten. It is during these years of childhood growth and development that the individual attention of an Everest Academy education can help students discover a basic love for learning that will serve them well into adulthood.

Upper Elementary School: Grades 3-5

Girls and boys are educated into two distinct schools with teaching methods and curriculum content designed to respond to the needs of each.

Designed to build on the foundation of the elementary program, the third through fifth grade curriculum emphasizes strong academics with the support of the fine arts, athletics, and leadership and service opportunities. These years provide the tools necessary to prepare the students to enter a demanding environment of a rigorous middle school program. Embedded in the solid academics is an emphasis on building confidences, study skills, and proficiency in public speaking, writing, and computer skills.

Middle School: Grades 6-8

Everest Academy offers distinct schools for girls and boys in middle school grades 6-8. Each school is adapted to the different needs of each gender to improve academic performance. Areas of the brain have been found to develop in a different order, time and rate for girls and boys.

Right-brain activities like targeting, spatial memory and abstract thinking have been found to develop earlier in boys. The hearing of girls is found to be up to four times more acute than boys. Separate schools accommodate these differences, enabling each to thrive.

Different teaching styles and gender relevant classroom activities result in greater academic achievement, higher self-esteem, broader interests, stronger role models and greater maturity.
