The Beautiful People (sorority name Mi Pi Sexy) is a villainous alliance of professional wrestlers, currently consisting of Angelina Love, Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne. Their characters are portrayed as arrogant blonde Barbie dolls, whose main goal as a team is to embarrass everybody else on the TNA roster in various ways, based on their belief that their physical appearance is superior to all the others.
History
Velvet-Love Entertainment
Angelina Love and Velvet Sky made their Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) debuts as fan favorites. At the Turning Point pay-per-view in 2007, Love and Sky were placed into a tag team named Velvet-Love Entertainment (although often shown in chyron and announced as simply Velvet Sky and Angelina Love). After defeating O.D.B. and Roxxi earlier in the show, Love and Sky did a run-in to Gail Kim's aid after her match against Awesome Kong. They assisted Kim again after another match against Kong on the December 6 edition of TNA Impact! and at Final Resolution, helping to stop a brawl post match. On the March 13 edition of Impact!, Sky and Love attacked Roxxi during a segment when she resisted their attempts to give her a "makeover", thus becoming villains.
The Beautiful People
Adopting the personas of superficial prima donnas who loathe and insult anyone they consider to be physically unattractive, they dropped the Velvet-Love Entertainment name and became The Beautiful People. The two later added another factor to their gimmick by placing brown paper bags over their opponents' heads, and often harass backstage interviewer Lauren.
In 2008 at Lockdown, both participated in the first ever "Queen of the Cage" match, which was won by Roxxi by defeating Love in the finals. The duo went on to participate in the Make Over Battle Royal-Ladder match at Sacrifice, where the loser would have her head shaved. Gail Kim won immunity on the Impact! prior to Sacrifice and made it to the final two with Roxxi. Due to Kim's immunity, the third runner up would have had her head shaved should Roxxi have won. Love came in third place, being the last eliminated from the battle royal part of the match. Love interfered in the end of a match, causing Roxxi to lose and get her head shaved bald, intensifying the character feud between them and the rest of the Knockouts. On the June 5 edition of Impact!, Mickie Knuckles (who was later given the name Moose) debuted as their new ally, and they participated in a 6-woman tag team match against Kim, O.D.B. and Roxxi at Slammiversary, which they lost. Moose has not been seen with them since, instead competing as a singles wrestler. The tag team then became part of a loose collective of self-identified "Bad Guys" along with Kurt Angle, Tomko, and Team 3D, later aligning themselves with Awesome Kong and Raisha Saeed.
Alliance with Cute Kip
On the August 14 edition of Impact!, Kip James began associating with the girls as their new "fashionist", dubbed Cute Kip. The trio then renewed Love's feud with O.D.B. and began a feud with Taylor Wilde, with Rhino siding with the protagonist Knockouts to counteract Cute Kip's presence at ringside. This feud ended in defeat for the Beautiful People, with them losing to ODB, Rhaka Khan and Rhino at Bound for Glory IV. They then began a feud with Christy Hemme. The trio attacked her backstage for the reason of "stealing" their segment time. Over the next few weeks, The Beautiful People had a number of matches with Hemme. Booker T hired The Beautiful People to protect his wife Sharmell during her match with ODB in exchange for his locker room on the December 4 episode of Impact!, resulting in a six-woman tag team match at Final Resolution against ODB, Wilde and Roxxi, which they lost.
It was announced via TNA's website that the company had extended an invitation to Sarah Palin to join the stable. Palin failed to respond, and an impostor (played by Shannon Spruill, best known as Daffney from World Championship Wrestling) (WCW) was introduced on an episode of Impact!. It appeared everyone except Love and Sky, including Kip, were able to tell that this Palin was an impostor. On the next episode of Impact!, the fake Palin returned to TNA and invited the girls to visit the White House with her. It was implied that Kip was struggling to get the girls' attention away from "Palin" long enough to explain to them that they were being fooled. The storyline led to a series of vignettes in which "Palin" "made over" the girls, including no makeup, un-styled hair and unflattering outfits in an attempt to make them worthy of her "cabinet". Kip quit the group in frustration after he was replaced by Palin's make-up artists. On the January 15 edition of Impact!, after the duo signed contracts to become members of "Palin's" cabinet, Taylor Wilde and Roxxi came out and began insulting the Beautiful People, revealing that Palin was a fake, hired by them to gain revenge for the humiliation the Beautiful People had inflicted upon the Knockout division. Roxxi and Wilde then proceeded to muck them. Love and Sky gained some measure of revenge the following week, inflicting a serious beating upon the impostor (which Kip eventually restrained them from taking too far as he reunited with them) and the following week destroying Wilde and Roxxi.
Mi Pi Sexy
On the March 12 edition of Impact!, Madison Rayne, following interference on behalf of Love and Sky, was revealed as a new member of the team. Love and Sky announced that with the addition of Rayne, they would now be known as Mi Pi Sexy.[1] The name Mi Pi Sexy is the sorority name of the alliance of Rayne, Sky & Love.[1] Rayne lost her initiation match against Taylor Wilde, however, but the team exacted a measure of revenge by beating down Wilde, Roxxi, and The Governor. It was also revealed that Love, Sky and Rayne would fight against Wilde, Roxxi, and The Governor at Destination X, which they lost. Cute Kip, however, was removed from television prior to Destination X to become a road agent, meaning his departure from the stable. This was explained on-screen by Sky, who stated that Kip was 'on probation' before declaring he would be spoken about no more.[2]
Angelina As Knockouts Champion (2009)
In the following weeks on Impact!, the trio began feuding with TNA Knockouts Champion Awesome Kong, as well as re-adding the haircutting factor to their gimmick. Angelina Love and Taylor Wilde faced Kong in a three-way dance for the Knockout Championship at Lockdown, where Love was successful in capturing the championship. After Love won the championship, Rayne became an official member of Mi Pi Sexy.[1] After Awesome Kong had defeated both Rayne and Sky in stretcher matches, Cute Kip returned on the May 14 edition of Impact! to face her in another stretcher match, only to suffer the same fate as his team mates. On the May 28 edition of Impact!, Love reiterated that Kip was fired from the alliance. Afterwards, Love's open challenge was answered by the debuting Tara, who attacked the three remaining Beautiful People. At Slammiversary, Love successfully defended her title against Tara. On the July 9, 2009, edition of Impact!, Sky told Love that she is not her puppet, pawn, or guinea pig and said that if she doesn't have her back, they are done for good.[3] Tara defeated Sky with a Widow's Peak[3] and after the match attempted to put her tarantula on her until Love stopped her and agreed to a title match with Tara as long as she left Sky alone.[3] Tara then used the Widow's Peak to defeat Love for the TNA Women's Knockout Championship.[3] However, in a rematch at Victory Road Angelina Love regained the TNA Knockouts Championship, pinning Tara. Later backstage referee Slick Johnson was caught in a compromising situation with Madison Rayne leading many to wonder about his call in the match.[3]
