Ura nage
Ura Nage (裏投), is one of the original 40 throws of Judo as developed by Jigoro Kano. It belongs to the fifth group, Gokyo, of the traditional throwing list, Gokyo (no waza), of Kodokan Judo. It is also part of the current 67 Throws of Kodokan Judo. It is classified as a back sacrifice technique, Ma-sutemi.
Technique description
Ura Nage is generally treated as a counter technique from uke's attempt at a forward throw such as O Goshi. As a counter from O Goshi tori steps off uke's throw so that he is at uke's side, here tori takes a grip with both hands on Uki's belt (one in front, one behind). Tori then falls backward and lifts uke with his arms simultaneously such that uke goes over tori's head.
