Hey that's looking great. I actually wanted to do all the icons in SVG but didn't have any editor that supported the format. Could you please tell me which editor you used? UzEE 14:13, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes please. You can covert them all :) UzEE 18:51, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Shoutbox manual:
Owner´s manual |
---|
1. Introduction
The shoutbox is a useful tool where smaller comments are posted. Examples are, "thanks for .....", "are you online?", "nice edit", "I´ve finished the ......", etc. It can also be used as a semi-instant messaging box where conversations can be held. These are some advantages of using a shoutbox:
The shoutbox is intended to be in the talk page, so the user gets inmediate notification of a new message. My intentions in creating this chat-tool are to help in wikipedia´s improvement and enhancement, not to be confused with a WP:NOT violation. The idea of using a shoutbox in talk pages was originally mine (I don´t know of other user who had the same idea as me previously), however, it was inspired by: ♥Soccer5525♥Talk To Me! (so I´m giving his/her corresponding credits) |
2. Use & maintenance
To place a new comment in the shoutbox, a text in the bottom says "Please make comments at the top. Click here to shout" and it redirects to the edit section of the page. The shoutbox is a fixed object that must be in the first (on top) part of the edit section (the source code) so a user can see an arrow which leads him where to place the comment. The reply is suposed to be in the respective shoutbox of the other wikipedian. You can change the position in where the shoutbox is placed; in the picture, you can see a line highlighted, that is the code for the positioning stuff. The number "20px" means that the object will separate 20 pixels from the right margins (and 50 pixels (px) from the top margins). The proper separation varies in each user talk page. You can also change the word "right" for "left" and "top" for "bottom" and the code will work accordingly. The code highlighted in the left means that the position from margins will be taken as of the page and not the screen. For example: if you change the word "absolute" for "fixed", the position will be separated from the screen margins (which are not the same). In consequence, the object (in this case, the shoutbox) will stick to the screen, no matter if you scroll down the page. Also, in the section marked below, if you change the word "collapsible" for "collapsible collapsed", with this you can make the shoutbox to stay collapsed all the time by default (untill you press the button "show"), keeping the shoutbox even more compact. Periodically you must manually clean (delete) the past comments, so the shoutbox is kept clean. |

Proposed deletion of Pachyna
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Pachyna, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- This article is apparently incorrect and misleading.
None of the references given provide any information about "Pachyna". A google search for "Pachyna" gives no results, other than this article. It is unlikely that "Pachyna" is a type of moth as this article claims.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Where...?
Where is the shoutbox template you made? --Sushiflinger (Goldblattster) (talk!) 20:56, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Template for a shoutbox!
About your idea of templatizing the shoutbox, it really did a mess in my talk page when you put it there, however, I have been considering and testing it (in my sandbox) and i found some errors:
- It has a bug that doesn´t let you sign (maybe not to all signatures, but since it fails with mine, so do others surely)
- You can make a general template, but what if a user wants to move the shoutbox to some other position, if he alter the main template, he would be altering everyone's, so he would have to avoid having the template (having it raw as it is originally)
- The space reduced is not really much (since it´s only big (well, not big, medium) in the edit section (source code), not in the talk page)
In the other hand:
- As you said, it will reduce space, wherever, but it will reduce it
- I actually think that your idea of making a general template is really good, but it has to be positioned in the most non disruptive place for users' talk pages in general
- Having a non-general template (for example: User:Example/Shoutbox) could be a good suggestion for those who want to have it as a template, but who also want to have it in a different position (maybe some users still prefer to use more space in source code than in creating subsections)
So in conclusion, if you manage to fix the main bug of the signing, that would be great and I will consider adding this to the manual, specially the suggestion of the non-general template. - Damërung ...ÏìíÏ..._Ξ_ . -- 02:34, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- I was about to say that it would be a good idea to have a section for this in wikipedia (like: Template:Shoutbox) but I´ve seen that Bugboy52.40 has already boldly done that (congrats). I have only used it for internal aspects of wikipedia (like talking about itself), but as I have experienced, it could be a good tool for wikipedia's more general work (maybe a test of that would be useful). - Damërung ...ÏìíÏ..._Ξ_ . -- 03:06, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
I feel like I went behind your back when I made the template and asked around, but I thought a collaboration would be nice and to get other's opinions. I am currently working on those bugs dam you bugs..., to me the bug with the sig is a paradox, it is truly perplexing, while everything else can be easily fixed. Bugboy52.4 | =-= 03:16, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- I have identified the problem, if you notice in my sig, the straight dash ( | ), is conflicting with the box syntax, it thinks that anything in front of | is apart of the box. Is there any way to move |} above the text? Bugboy52.4 | =-= 03:39, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- What do you mean with 'above text'? Perhaps you can try this:
<nowiki>|</nowiki>
for the pipe mark. But still, my signature doesn´t have any pipe mark and still affect the shoutbox (do you think we should move this conversation to the general discussion in your talk page (so others can see it))? - Damërung ...ÏìíÏ..._Ξ_ . -- 04:22, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- What do you mean with 'above text'? Perhaps you can try this:
- That would be fine. Bugboy52.4 | =-= 15:09, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- I will write documentation for the template (there probably is not much to say, but I will write some anyway. --Sushiflinger (Goldblattster) (talk!) 15:30, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- Documentation? Bugboy52.4 | =-= 15:53, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- That would be a great idea! (now, what about the position?). - Damërung ...ÏìíÏ..._Ξ_ . -- 16:06, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
I am done with the shoutbox documentation (tell me what you think; it's very basic). I changed the shoutbox position to the defualt position. Dag-nabbit, now we need to get people to start using it (jk). --Sushiflinger (Goldblattster) (talk!) 16:12, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- It's very nice, but maybe you should add that it is possible to add text, seen in this example,
{{User:Bugboy52.40/sandbox|1= <!-- ************ SHOUTBOX *********************************************************** __ | | | | __| |__ \ / \ / \ / \/ ************LEAVE SMALL COMMENTS BELOW THIS LINE************************************** --> *Text <!-- *******************AND AVOBE THIS LINE (but in the top please)************************ --> }}
And what does substr: do? Bugboy52.4 | =-= 16:19, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- I will do that and tell you when it is done. Subst: means that the page using the template is not going to have {{template example}} on their page, but will have the actual source on their page. Does that make sense? Do you think it is good to tell users to append subst: to the beginning, or not?
- There´s still a problem: there´s a bug in the line: "Cick here to shout"; the hyperlink does not lead to the edit section, and the word "here" is missing. --Woglinde 02 (talk) 16:25, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Dude, that's too many indents! When there are 3 indents in a talk page conversation, the indent thing starts over. Anyway, I think the subst is good because as Damërung said, "You can make a general template, but what if a user wants to move the shoutbox to some other position, if he alter the main template, he would be altering everyone's, so he would have to avoid having the template (having it raw as it is originally)" plus, you have arrows to guide folks that are less code-minded. Of course, you will still retort to that :P --Sushiflinger (Goldblattster) (talk!) 16:29, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- Oh-also, I think "instruction on the possibility to add text" should be put in the manual, as the template documentation is only for how to use the template, not what you can do whth the shoutbox (the shoutbox and the shoutbox template are two different things) --Sushiflinger (Goldblattster) (talk!) 16:34, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- I like the over-use of indents! ROTFL! By the way, as soon as the bug in "click here" line is fixed, the shoutbox template will be finally ready, I think. - Damërung ...ÏìíÏ..._Ξ_ . -- 17:12, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi Bugboy!
It's me again. I have come for your help. I am preparing Ctenomorphodes chronus. It is a stick insect. The draft is here [1]. The bug has a zillion synonyms and the taxonomy is changing a lot. I am just wondering if I am making a duplicate article or if the taxobox is way off. I could use your guidance.
This stick insect could generate interest at DKY because it is a strange bug. From preliminary research it looks like it drops eggs for ants to carry away, plus it is parthenogenetic and it's a sex maniac.
As for Red palm mite, it worked out well getting into the DYK with photo and getting 8,000 visits. Thanks for any help you can give. Cheers.--Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:56, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

- I don't think that will work, how about an interesting fact. Bugboy52.4 | =-= 02:57, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Interesting? Think of it from the pencil's point of view. Seriously. Very seriously, the ants carrying the eggs away is probably the best bet.--Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:14, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- That is an interesting fact, but how does it get the ants to nurse the eggs? Maye you should find out more info on the net or in a book. I'll se what I can do. Bugboy52.4 | =-= 13:51, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
How about, ...that like most phasmid species, Ctenomorpha chronus flicks it's eggs to the ground to be attracted by ants, and then carried to the nest were it will over-season (pictured)? Maybe showing this picture. Bugboy52.4 | =-= 15:16, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hmmm. I wonder if DYK has used this hook before for a stick insect. I will dig, but it's best so far.--Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:25, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well, after quite an extensive search, I've found nothing else on this species. I was really hoping to find more info on the fate of the eggs. I've given the draft a once over and it looks pretty good. Thanks for checking the refs. I was just about to do that. I'll put the article up and hopefully others can find some more info for it. Hi Bugboy, sorry that it took me so long to reply to your question regarding erythrism; I was traveling. I don't know the answer to your question. Personally I would think that the pink form of Amblycorypha oblongifolia should be qualified as "erythrism", but I'm not an expert. Re:genre
Sorry... Must not have been thinking straight when I put that genre in.
But you do have to admit, it is sorta hard to categorize Slow Burn (another song that has had difficulty genre wise) and Falling down, Genre wise. Like, they are by a Metalcore band, but Falling down has traits of Hard rock, Post-Hardcore, Pop Punk, Pop Rock, Punk Rock, Alternative rock, and even Glam rock in it; and Slow burn has traits of Metalcore in the backing lyrics (you can hear guttural screaming in the background), and synth rock, pop rock, hard rock, and post-hardcore. But people insist on calling both Metalcore and Alternative metal, which I think is insane. Altenhofen 01:35, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, and actually, the <br> is preferred in genre boxes.
