Holly Walsh (born 1980) is an English alternative comedian from Guildford in Surrey.

Early life

Walsh attended boarding school between the age of 11 and 18, before going on to read Art History at Cambridge University.[1] In her twenties she worked in the art world in small, contemporary art galleries in East London.[1]

Comedy

While working in galleries, Walsh attended comedy writing evening classes including Stand Up And Deliver and as a direct result wrote for Jo Caulfield on BBC Radio 4.[1]. In 2006 she switched to comedy full time, retiring from the art world.[1]. In 2007 Walsh was approached by Frank Skinner to appear in a TV pilot, Frank Skinner's Skateboarding Dog for Avalon Entertainment.[1][2]

Walsh was runner-up in AmusedMoose LaughOff 2006 on the Edinburgh Fringe, appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2007 and 2008, and will be appearing - between writing and filming - at Afterhours and co-hosting AmusedMoose Laughoff 2009 with Jack Whitehall.[1][2] Walsh has since written for several TV and radio shows, and has made several appearances on radio and television, including Edinburgh & Beyond on the Paramount Comedy Channel, The Late Edition on BBC Four and Out To Lunch on BBC Radio 2 in 2008. Into 2009 Walsh has written for and appeared on The Now Show on BBC Radio Four, appeared on Winging It on BBC Switch, and made videos for Current TV.[1][2] Walsh is also an occasional contributor to comedy podcast Answer Me This!.[3]. In January 2009 Walsh created a comedy film night called 'Popcorn Comedy' with Jon Petrie (Brother of CBBC's Ed Petrie). In the summer of 2009 Holly has been co-host, and on the writing team, for Channel 4's TNT.

Other work

In 2008 Walsh was a stand in continuity presenter for CBBC.[1][2] On 12 June 2009 Walsh was a guest panelist on 8 Out of 10 Cats.
