National pageant notes

Debuts

  •  Congo will compete in Miss World for the first time.
  •  French Polynesia: Tahiti will be returning to Miss World after 3 years under the name French Polynesia. The territory had previously sent delegates under the name Tahiti, though Tahiti is only one island in French Polynesia. A new pageant, Miss French Polynesia, has been created to send contestants to Miss World, in contrast with the traditional Miss Tahiti Nui, whose winner is sent to Miss Earth.
