Template:MMAstatsbox Ben Rothwell (born October 17, 1981 in Kenosha, Wisconsin) is an American professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He is currently fighting for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
In July 2008 he was ranked as the #10 heavyweight fighter in the world by Sherdog. [1]
Biography
He began fighting in 1999 at the age of 17.
He trains.
Rothwell cites his mother Victoria, a caterer, (who along with his father own and manage a historic restaurant) his wife, and his daughter as the most motivational people in his life.
On September 21, 2007 Rothwell beat Ricco Rodriguez in the IFL finals but the Silverbacks fell short of a victory and lost the championship to Renzo Gracie's Pitbulls.
Rothwell also holds a 3-0 record in professional kickboxing
Rothwell was set to meet Chase Gormley at Affliction Trilogy on August 1st 2009, before Affliction decided to cease MMA promotions, but the two will now meet at UFC 104 on October 24, after the UFC secured deals with both fighters.[2]After Cain Velasquez dropped out of his matchup with Shane Carwin at UFC 104, Cain was named to be facing Ben Rothwell and Carwin moved to UFC 106 to face Brock Lesnar.
Personal life
Ben is married to Jennifer DeBoer and has a daughter, Alexis.[3]
