Conrad Murray (born February 19, 1953 in St. Andrews, Grenada) is probably best known as the personal physician who was with Michael Jackson at the time of Jackson's death in 2009.

Biography

Conrad Murray grew up in Trinidad. In 1989, he graduated from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. He subsequently completed residency in internal medicine at Loma Linda University in 1992 and fellowship in cardiology at University of Arizona in 1995, followed by fellowship in interventional cardiology. He was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine as a diplomate in internal medicine from 8/26/1998 through 12/31/2008.

He filed for bankruptcy in 1992, and is reported to have had judgments filed against him or his company totalling over $435,000. ABC News reported that Murray's partner in his Houston, Texas office had his license revoked and the clinic shut down in 2002 for improperly dispensing medication. Law enforcement officials reportedly called the clinic a "pill mill".

The doctor, who joined Jackson's camp in May 2009 as part of his London concert agreement with AEG Live, has been interviewed by police twice but has not been considered a suspect in the singer's death. Officials from the Drug Enforcement Administration executed a warrant at Murray's offices in Houston reportedly looking for "items constituting evidence of the offense of manslaughter".

Murray first met Jackson in Las Vegas when the doctor treated one of the singer’s children. The promoter of Jackson's London concerts said the singer insisted the company hire Murray to accompany him to England.

Michael Jackson's death has since been ruled a homocide and Dr. Murray is still under investigation for manslaughter.
