Day of Silence and 'Anti-Day of Silence' Protests

On April 25th, 2008, the Mount Si Gay-Straight Alliance participated in the national gay-rights protest known as the Day of Silence, refusing to speak for an entire school day. The Gay-Straight Alliance at Mount Si has been under fire from groups outside the school and students within the school following their Martin Luther King Jr. Day Assembly in January.

Large anti-Day of Silence protests were scheduled as well, "where prominent anti-gay-rights activist Ken Hutcherson last week called for 1,000 "prayer warriors" to protest in front of the school Friday morning." [6]
