Prank of 2006. Trivia?
The entry about the senior prank of 2006 doesn't sound like trivia. It sounds more like news and sounds more important than something trivial. I suggest (re)moving the paragraph. Immortal Time Keeper 07:56, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- It was previously in a section called "Media Coverage", but it was the only information in that particular section. What would you recommend? Ryoji.kun 21:22, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Mascot of Independence High School
As a member of The American 2007, or the Yearbook staff for Independence High School, we list the 76er (or the Sixer) as the school mascot, and in my original cleanup of this article I listed the 76er as such -- not Sammy the Sixer. Other schools do not list their mascot as a named mascot; why Independence? I recommend we relist the 76er as the mascot for the school. Saying "our mascot is the Sammy the Sixer" can sound silly. - ...except the school's own site lists the mascot as Sammy Eagle. I'd go check with the school to see which one is correct, considering you're a student at the school. And whether it sounds silly or not is aside from the issue at hand. Destin Isatha 21:53, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- The school's site does list Sammy Eagle as the mascot however, i doubt the school has updated that section of the site recently, if at all. Also, the current mascot costume is not an eagle, though it was before, it's now a caricature of an American patriot. i do agree that the school's mascot is the 76er, because it is the mascot name used after the school's name. for example: silver creek raiders, oak grove eagles, james lick comets, piedmont pirates, etc.66.127.52.142 05:42, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've updated it as the 76er, given that's what the newsletters they've been sending my brother in sophomore year have said recently. Andrew Hsieh, Random Wikian 11:26, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Why the name?
I know the answer to this, and it isn't mentioned in the article. I grew up in the area, and this high school opened in 1976, around the bicentennial, thus the whole 1776 theme. I remember the huge fanfare of the opening. I find it interesting that it needed to be renovated so soon.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Nospamtodd (talk • contribs) 08:27, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- Added, due to general knowledge anyhow. We may or may not need a reference, though; I'll see if the San Jose Mercury News can give any input. Andrew Hsieh, Random Wikian 11:28, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Clubs & Organizations
The extremely long list that formerly populated about half of this article is one of the more superfluous examples of text I purged just now; to me, it was patently unencyclopedic and completely unnecessary, but I'd also like to hear outside opinions. Anyone? Andrew Hsieh, Random Wikian 11:47, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
