Árni Magnússon was an 18th century scholar from Iceland.

Also widely known by his Danish name Arne Magnussen, he was professor at the University of Copenhagen for many years, where he devoted most of his life to collecting and documenting medieval Icelandic manuscripts and his collection is known as the Arnamagnæan Codex.

Educational institutions in both Copenhagen and Reykjavik are named after him.

He was depicted on the now obsolete Icelandic 100-króna banknote.
