Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie is the Template:FilmUS film adaptation of the Disney Channel fantasy sitcom, Wizards of Waverly Place. The movie will premiere on August 28, 2009 on the Disney Channel. Production for the movie and filming began on February 15, 2009 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.[3]
Selena Gomez recorded a cover of the Pilot song "Magic" for the movie that is featured on the soundtrack for the movie and television show.[4]
Plot
The film follows Alex, Max, Justin and their parents on a trip to the Caribbean. Alex is upset that her parents are telling her what to do despite being sixteen years old. When her parents confiscate her wand, and she gets in a fight with her mother, she wishes her parents had never met. This in turn causes her wish to come true, and her parents forget about each other and about their kids Alex, Max, and Justin. Justin figures his father must still have his powers since his dad and mom had never met and asks his father, who has no recollection of Justin and just regards him as a random tourist and wizard on what to do about the situation, he tells him that they must find the Stone Of Dreams, a magical stone that can reverse any spell and grant any wish. But on the way Justin falls off a cliff. When their parents regain their memories, Alex, Max, and Justin participate in the family Wizard Tournament. Alex eventually wins and keeps her powers, but gives them up for her brothers.

Promotion
A teaser trailer of the movie was released on Disney Channel June 17, 2009.[citation needed] The full-length trailer was released on June 26, 2009, during the premiere of Selena Gomez's other movie Princess Protection Program. A sneak peek of the film aired during the conclusion of the four-part "Wizards vs. Vampires" event on Disney Channel on August 8, 2009 and on Family Channel during the week of August 24, 2009.[5] Also an all new trailer premiered during an all new Wizards of Waverly Place episode, "Retest", on August 21, 2009.
