Kali for Women was an important start-up feminist publisher in India. Butalia and Menon are cofounders of Kali for Women, the first feminist publishing company in South Asia, based in New Delhi.[1] Kali for Women broke up in 2003 when the partners decided to go their own ways and set up independent imprints. Urvashi Butalia set up Zubaan, and Ritu Menon began Women Unlimited. During its twenty years of functioning Kali for Women has published important names in Indian feminism such as the eco-feminist Vandana Shiva,
