Central Suffolk and North Ipswich is a county constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.

The Conservative MP for the seat since its creation in 1997 is Sir Michael Lord, who previously represented Suffolk Central from 1983. He has been a Deputy Speaker since 1997. and will stand down at the next general election.

Boundaries

It comprises the northern part of Ipswich and central Suffolk.

Boundary review

Following their review of parliamentary representation in Suffolk, the Boundary Commission for England has recommended minor alterations to the existing constituency arrangement. The electoral wards used in the creation of this seat are:

  • From Ipswich: Castle Hill, Whitehouse, and Whitton
  • From Mid Suffolk:Barking and Somersham, Bramford and Blakenham, Claydon and Barham, Debenham, Eye, Suffolk, Fressingfield, Helmingham and Coddenham, Hoxne, Mendlesham, Palgrave, Stradbroke and Laxfield, The Stonhams, Wetheringsett, and Worlingworth
  • From Suffolk Coastal:Earl Soham, Framlingham, Grundisburgh, Hacheston, Kesgrave East, Kesgrave West, Otley, Rushmere St Andrew, Wickham Market, and Witnesham
