Elena Gilbert is a fictional character from The Vampire Diaries and The Vampire Diaries (TV series). She is described as a blonde, blue eyed teenager in the novels. In the show, she is a brown haired, brown eyed teenager. She attends high school and meets Stefan Salvatore. He turns out to be a vampire with his brother, Damon. Damon is evil. In the past, Stefan and Damon were in love with a girl, Katherine. Katherine and Elena physically resemble each other. The two brother fight for her in the novels. In book two, she is in her car and jumps off a bridge. She is then turned into a vampire by Kathrine
