Princess Lalla Meryem of Morocco

Princess Lalla Meryem of Morocco is first daughter and eldest child of His Majesty the late King Hassan II of Morocco and his wife Lalla Latifa Hammou. She was born in Rome, Italy on August 26, 1962. After the Baccalaureat obtained in 1981 H.R.H. Princess Lalla Meryem was nominated by His Majesty King Hassan II the President of Social Works of the Royal Army Forces. In 1984, she married Fouad ibn Abdellatif Filali and have two children: a daughter, Lalla Soukaïna Filali (1986-) and a son, Moulay Idriss Filali (1988-). Lalla Meryem is currently divorced from her husband Fouad Filali, the son of a former cabinet minister. Princess Meryem has two brothers King Mohammed and Prince Moulay Rachid and two sisters Lalla Asma and Lalla Hasna. Holder of numerous prestigious official functions, Princess Meryem has focused much of her activities on the social and cultural realm. Princess Meryem is the President of the Moroccan Association of support to UNICEF, President of the Hassan II Foundation for the Morrocans residing at abroad, President of the Moroccan National Observatory of the Childs Rights and President of the Hassan II Foundation for the social works of the former soldiers and ex-combatants. In July 2001, she was nominated UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador with focus her Ambassadorship on UNESCO projects for women and children. Using her Royal status, she continues her outstanding work on behalf of women and children and advocate their rights on an international level.

S.A.R. la Princesse Lalla Meryem du Maroc a présidée le lancement de plusieurs actions humanitaires et sociales au profit du Peuple Kosovar qui a eu lieu le 26 septembre 2000

S.A.R. la Princesse Lalla Meryem du Maroc a prononcé le discours de la séance inaugurale, présidée par Sa Majesté le Roi de la Conférence Ministerielle Arabo-Africaine des finances pour la préparation du Sommet Mondial de l'Enfant de Septembre 2001 au Siège des Nations-Unies à New-York

S.A.R. la Princesse Lalla Meryem du Maroc a organisé la Conférence sur les droits de l’enfant et la sécurité humaine dans l’espace Euro-Méditerranéen qui a été organisée du 22 au 24 octobre 2002, à Marrakech (Maroc), sous le haut patronage de Sa Majesté le Roi Mohammed VI

S.A.R. la Princesse Lalla Meryem a participée à la Réunion annuelle des Ambassadeurs de bonne volonté en février 2002 et en février 2003 au Siège de l'UNESCO
