MDC with MS-DRG

As of version 25, MDC seems to no longer mean "Ungroupable". Does anyone know what it should be? - Denimadept (talk) 21:53, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Description of MDC (Major Diagnostic Categories) in this Wikipedia entry pertains ONLY to the DRG (Diagnosis Related Groups) classification system for inpatient stays, in which 25 MDC categories are defined, as listed. However, there is a separate (and prior) definition of MDC (Major Diagnostic Categories) which identifies 19 MDC categories which was defined and employed for grouping illness conditions defined in the much more widely adopted ICD-9-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification).
