Stevan Jovetić (born November 2, 1989 in Titograd) is a Montenegran footballer who plays for Serie A club Fiorentina.

Club career

On April 8, 2006, he made his senior debut for Partizan under head coach Jürgen Röber in a league match against Voždovac.

He scored three goals in a UEFA Cup 2007-08 qualifying game against Zrinjski on August 2, 2007, in a 5–0 victory for Partizan, making it his first hat-trick in his career at only 17 years old.

In October 2007, he was reportedly a transfer target of some high profile clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid.[1][2]

He became the team captain in January 2008, after former captain Antonio Rukavina was sold to German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

In May 2008, Serie A side Fiorentina signed him for a reported fee of 8 million. He scored his first goal for the Viola in the league match against Atalanta from the penalty spot on April 5, 2009.

Curiosities

Jovetic is considered one of the best '89 world football talent[citation needed]

Fiorentina supporters gave Jovetic the nickname "Jo-Jo"[3].

Because of his hairstyle, Jovetic is frequently compared by press and Fiorentina supporters to the famous Queen guitarist Brian May[citation needed].

International career

Jovetić was a founding member of the Montenegro national team who played their first game against Hungary in March 2007. Stevan is also a regular for the Montenegro U-21 team and was appointed as stand-in captain for Mirko Vučinić at just 17 years old.
