Tumi is a manufacturer of suitcases and bags for travel. The company was founded in 1975 and is named for a Peruvian deity according to its founder, who spent time in Peru while in the Peace Corps. The products are known for their black-on-black ballistic nylon. There are 20 Tumi stores, and the product is sold in department stores. The company is based in South Plainfield, New Jersey.
