Mike Freeman is a national columnist for CBSSports.com. He has previously written for the New York Times, Washington Post, Dallas Morning News, Boston Globe and Florida Times-Union. He is also the author of four books.

Freeman came under heavy criticism in June 2009 for his piece on U.S. soccer. He was criticized by members of the soccer media for his lack of understanding of the sport.
