Mike Freeman is a national columnist for CBSSports.com. He has previously written for the New York Times, Washington Post, Dallas Morning News, Boston Globe and Florida Times-Union. He is also the author of four books.

Freeman came under heavy criticism in November 2007, March 2008 and June 2009 for his controversial and poorly researched articles. On the November 2007 article Mike Freeman wrote an article using racial epithets towards the football teams of Missouri and West Virginia http://www.cbssports.com/columns/story/10495965. Mike sustained heavy criticism for his November 2007 piece on U.S. soccer. He was criticized by members of the soccer media for his lack of understanding of the sport. There is a strong movement to have Mike Freeman terminated based on his racially motivated articles.
