Wikinews iPhone app
Hey there. I noticed your query in the Village Pump regarding a Wikinews iPhone app. Last year I stumbled upon an article which reviewed various iPhone Wikipedia apps here. The article lists the authors of each app, so perhaps you might be interested in contacting them individually. --Cryptic C62 · Talk 03:32, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi Dotty, it would appear that User:Imbris is not about to consider altering his position on the Hey, Slavs article (in spite of everyone else's opinion :). The pause in edit-warring ws due to the fact that he succeed in "slipping" his edit past the notice of other Users - and was apparently content to keep quiet while his version was on. In light of the current danger of another edit-war on this article, I'd like to request your assistance in passing the matter on to MEDCOM, as well as your opinion on the immediate course of action that can prevent the imminent destabilization of the article (protection?, admin warning to both sides?). I realize this matter must be tedious and annoying by now (believe me, others likely share that view), but we're hoping for your assistance in bringing this to a definite end... Regards, --DIREKTOR (TALK) 22:02, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

DottyQuoteBot
DottyQuoteBot seems to be having difficulty picking out the text and author from other markup in a consitent way. It usually works, but see these diffs for August 18 at QuoteText[1] and QuoteAuthor[2]. Something similar happened August 15. Can you debug it? Thanks. ~ Ningauble (talk) 18:11, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
The DottyQuoteBOT
I could just be crazy, but I haven't been able to get the quote to update since September 6th? I could just be crazy because I don't know much about the technicalities of templates and scripting, but the purge isn't fixing it. Any ideas?
- It appears that DottyQuoteBot (contribs) has stopped running since August 19, except for one apparent test run on September 6. ~ Ningauble (talk) 21:21, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, so you mean the bot has to be run each day by its owner to fulfill its task? It's not as if once it's created it does it on it's own each day, kind of like using Twinkle where you have to click the button to get it to do task X?

- PS Sorry for the apparently retarded question if that is in fact the case....

- A bot is a program that runs on a user's computer. It can be scheduled to run at regular intervals, or even continuously, but it's up to the user to make it happen, or not. ~ Ningauble (talk) 14:34, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- It should be running as a cron job, but that doesn't seem to be working. I haven't got a chance to have a look at it at the moment, but will try over the next few weeks. TBH, it's probably better if for the moment you remove it from your user page. Really sorry! Dotty••|☎ 19:10, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
