The 26th (Jacobs) Mountain Battery wasan artillery battery of the British Indian Army. It served in World War I. Guns of the 26th were the first British Empire artillery to open fire in the Middle East in World War I, on 26 January 1915, Qantara (Kantara), against the Turkish advance towards the Suez Canal during the First Suez Offensive.[1]
In the Gallipoli Campaign as part of the Indian Expeditionary Force G. Together with the 21st (Kohat) Mountain Battery (Frontier Force) in the 7th Indian Mountain Brigade.
