PIRCH or pIRCh is a shareware IRC client[1] published by Northwest Computer Services. Its name is an acronym — PolarGeek's IRC Hack.[2]
The last version of the program, known as PIRCH98, was released in 1998.[1] PIRCH has in the past been considered to be the number two Windows IRC client behind mIRC.[1]
PIRCH was well liked for its ability to hold simultaneous server connections within the same client instance. It was also appreciated for being able to switch intelligently between IRC profiles.[citation needed]
PIRCH inspired the creation of Vortec IRC due to a lack of software updates.[3]
