This is a list of football (soccer) players who have played for Brisbane Roar FC (formerly Queensland Roar FC). It includes players that have played at least one match, either as a starting player or a substitute, for the Roar in the A-League competition and the finals series. The Pre-Season Cup competition is not included.

The A-League is a domestic football (soccer) competition in Australia. It was founded in 2004, and the Queensland Roar were one of the eight inaugural clubs to participate in the new competition.[1] The A-League competition consists of a regular season and a finals series of the top four teams, with the premiership being awarded to the club who finishes on top of the table in the regular season, and the championship to the winner of the Grand Final.[2] The Roar have missed the finals in both of the A-League seasons to date, finishing sixth in 2005–06 and fifth in 2006–07 on goal difference to Sydney FC, who finished fourth.[3]

The Roar have had four players compete for them who have been capped at international level - three for Australia and one for China. This includes the current record-holder for goals for the Australian national team, Damian Mori, who is the current equal-leading goalscorer for the Roar.[4]

Records

As of 13 November 2007. Only A-League matches are counted.

South Korean Hyuk-Su Seo has played the most games for the Roar in the A-League, with 42. Seo had played in every match for the Queensland Roar in the first two A-League seasons.[5]

Alex Brosque holds the record for the most goals scored for the Roar in A-League competition, with eight. Brosque, a Queensland player during the 2005–06 A-League season before moving to Sydney FC at the end of the season, was third in the Johnny Warren Medal count for 2005–06.[6]

International players

The Roar have had a number of internationally-capped players represent them in their two seasons since forming prior to the 2005–06 A-League season. This has included five members of the Australian national team. The Roar have also had one contracted Chinese international, Yuning Zhang, who was a Roar player during the 2006–07 A-League season.[7]

  • Australia Danny Tiatto (2007–present) was Frank Farina's second signing after Mori and the first of the 2007-08 season. Tiatto was recruited to shore up the Roar defence and is a vital part of the coach's new team shape.
  • Australia Craig Moore (2007–present) was the new marquee player for the Roar, returning to his native home state of Queensland to play in the 2007-08 Hyundai A-League season and the 2008-09 season.[17] A recent Australian national team player who moved to Queensland for personal reasons, Moore was chased by several A-League sides before settling into the state where he began his football career.[18]

List of players

Players are listed according to the date of their first-team debut for the club. Appearances and goals are for A-League regular season and finals matches only. Substitute appearances included. "Matches for QR" dates are from the season of first game for the Roar to the season of last game for the Roar, with 'present' used if still at the club. As of 2 February 2008.
