Question
i am a chartered accountant (India) and do not want to leave my country what is scope of ICMA degree in India?
sameer
Sameer. This is a much delayed reply and probably not much use to you now. CIMA does have examination centres in India, but not many candidates use them. I believe that the number of CIMA registered students in India is tiny. On the other hand, CIMA is very active in Sri Lanka. I believe that there is a domestic body in India called something like the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India. It serves much the same purpose as CIMA and carries Indian statutory recognition for various purposes that CIMA doesn't. So, unless you plan to either (a) emigrate to the UK or similar, or (b) work for a British company in India - then you would probably be wise to give CIMA a miss and go with the local body. Good luck, whatever you decide to do. Bob BScar23625 18:49, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
