The Lakes College ('TLC) is located on a 15 hectare site at North Lakes, Mango Hill.

History

The Lakes College opened in 2005 catering for students in Prep to Year 3, with the full complement of classes through to Year 12 being progressively added.

It was originally a joint initiative of the Anglican Church of Australia and the Uniting Church in Australia.

Until 2008, it was operated by EDUCANG Limited along with Forest Lake College, Mary McConnel School, The FLC International Centre, and The Springfield College.

In 2008, sole ownership of The Lakes College (TLC) was assumed by the Uniting Church in Australia.

Curriculum

The Lakes College's curriculum includes individualised training in the academic, cultural, social, spiritual and physical domains.

Mandarin Chinese

Mandarin Chinese is the College's official Language Other Than English (LOTE) and is taught in all classes from Prep (pre-school) upwards.

In senior secondary it may be taken as an elective subject.

Music

All The Lakes College students from Prep (pre-school) onwards learn to play an orchestral musical instrument as part of the classroom program, promoting self-discipline and an appreciation of music.

Sport

The Associated Schools (TAS)

The Lakes College sporting program is currently centred around soccer, cricket and netball and as the school grows, other competitive sports will be introduced. The College participates in Saturday morning fixtures in netball, soccer and cricket.
