Dear Mr. Gacy, a film directed by Svetozar Ristovski, starring William Forsythe and Jesse Moss, completed principal photography in February 2009.
Dear Mr. Gacy, is based on the real life novel The Last Victim, written by Jason Moss, depicting his time while attending Las Vegas University, where as part of his thesis, he engaged several death row inmates, in an attempt to determine if there was more to be learned from the serial killers minds, and perhaps more bodies to be unearthed. The focus for the film was his relationship with John Wayne Gacy set to be killed by lethal injections just months away.
In garnering Gacy’s interest, Moss developed a personae that would later infest his life, alter his future, and ultimately ended with Moss’s suicide on June 06, 2006. (06/06/06).[1]
Screenwriter Kellie Madison approached Clark Peterson, Executive Producer (Monster) to attempt to bring the story to life. It was during the course of their discussions with Moss, who was thrilled at the prospect of developing the story, when they learned of his suicide.
After an appropriate period of time had passed, they approached Moss’ widow and ultimately were able to gain acceptance of the proposal, and Dear Mr. Gacy was developed. This is Kellie Madison’s first adaptation to the big screen.
