James Fordyce, DD (1720 in Aberdeen, Scotland1 October 1796 in Bath, England), was an 18th-century clergyman. He is best known for his collection of sermons published in 1766 as Sermons for Young Women, popularly known as Fordyce's Sermons. Due to his great skill at public speaking, he was a popular orator. In 1771, at 51 years of age, he married Henrietta Cummyngs.

His book "Sermons for Young Women" was also published in an American edition (First Boston Edition) in 1796, by Thomas Hill, printers.
