I thought the Queen, Elizabeth II went here? Anyone know?--Ace Face 12:06, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- No, she was privately tutored - Raker 12:36, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Motto
I thought the motto was usually translated as "Honour with dignity"; if this is the version the school supports it should be cited even if others are possible. It might be worth noting that spoken aloud the motto sounds like "Honour Roedean"! Robina Fox (talk) 15:20, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
I was at Roedean 1987--1994 and the motto was always translated as "Honour the worthy". I have never heard it translated as anything else. The refrain of the school song is "Honour the worthy and honour the keen, honour her daughters and honour Roedean." (Note that "Honour with dignity" is not correct as a translation.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.171.129.75 (talk) 22:36, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Fees
I am not convinced that Roedean is the most expensive school in the country. The citation given here is the Evening Argus, a very low-standard local newspaper in Brighton. The link is to an article about a sewage plant proposed on the grounds of Roedean, and simply refers in passing to Roedean as the most expensive school in the country. I think this is not a reliable source for this piece of information. 217.171.129.75 (talk) 22:44, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
I agree - the reference is completely unsuitable to back up a statement like this. I have changed it to state that it is amongst some of the most expensive schools, but I am not happy with even this statement...although I know it to be true from looking at fees on websites, there is no categorical reference for it. Competitive entry?
I'm not sure that 55 points at GCSE counts as 'very competitive'. It's the equivalent of 9 Bs, and the school's website says that in 2008 83% of exam grades were A*-B grades.
List
The list of 2008 6th form scholars, which would not normally be given, seems to be designed to prove that they are all non-white. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.179.49.237 (talk) 10:19, 29 October 2009 (UTC) Although the school was founded in 1885, when Old French was not used, strange spelling "aulx" is used in the motto.
