2009 fire

The 2009 fires burnt alot of the park, and destroyed the wooden Newbies Lookout timber steps. NPWS haven't been able to supply a time frame for this being replaced.

Also burnt out were numerous signs, and the park was closed to traffic (though many locals ignorged and removed the no entry signs placed at various entries around the park) while signs, fallen trees and other fire related work was attempted.

An area of great concern was a timber plantation near newbies creek, and through planned back burning, this area was untouched by the fires.
