St. Philomena’s Girls High School, Poonthura is an institution run by the Canossian congregation. This school is located at Manikkomvilakom ward of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, is one of the schools in the coastal belt which aims at bringing up girls for the good of the family and the society. There is a total of 2654 students and 60 staff members. There are classes from standard I to X, comprising of 4 divisions. Each of one division is an English medium class. Canossian Education Bulletin is published monthly. The school excels in the Academic, Arts and Sports fields. The SSLC result over the years has been good.
