Speedy deletion of Image:World economic forum logo.png
A tag has been placed on Image:World economic forum logo.png, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add hangon
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

Image permission problem with Image:World economic forum logo.png
Thanks for uploading Image:World economic forum logo.png, which you've sourced to self-made. I noticed that that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ian¹³/t 16:01, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Your Username
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: It appears to be the name of a company or group; please see the section of the username policy Wikipedia:Username_policy#Company.2Fgroup_names. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.
Thank you. Raven1977Talk to meMy edits 04:29, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- I understand your concerns about the World Economic Forum using its organisation's name as our username on Wikipedia. I thought it would be better to use the Forum's official name to clearly identify all our edits. Since the use of a company as a username is not prohibited I tend to believe that it is the right way. Furthermore we have clearly indicated our policy on the User Page: [3] Hope I have addressed your concerns. - Matthias Lüfkens World Economic Forum (talk) 09:22, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there. I have no problem with you keeping the account name, since you've indicated your relationship to the organization on your user page, in compliance with Wikipedia policies. Thanks for the response. Raven1977Talk to meMy edits 23:15, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again. It seems there's a bit of a discussion going on over the username policy, but the recent change to it seems to indicate that it's not in fact really recommended to have a company or organization name as a username. See here: Wikipedia:Username_policy#Company.2Fgroup_names. I would prefer not to see you blocked for something you weren't aware of, since the policy when you looked at it said something a little more lenient, so I thought I'd bring it up again. (Even when the policy as such is a little ambiguous and says it's "not prohibited", the reality is quite different, and more often than not usernames that are orgs or companies do tend to get blocked; I have seen quite a lot of that happen, which is why I brought it up in the first place.) I would recommend the best course of action is just to choose a new name that doesn't indicate an organization, so you won't have to worry about the issue in the future. Wikipedia:Changing username will allow you to choose a new name, the contents of your talk page will be moved to that page, as will your user page. - Thanks for alerting me. You are right there is a bit of confusion about company names and sharing accounts. For the time being allow me to keep the user name World Economic Forum. The reason being that I am the only person in our organisation to do edits on Wikipedia with this account and I have made it clear to my colleagues. The risk of changing it to my personal username is that anyone in our organization will start editing Wikipedia - we had a junior colleague doing anonymous edits recently! But I am always open to discussion should this become a real issue. Matthias Lüfkens World Economic Forum (talk) 07:16, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- FYI, I'm not an administrator, so I can't give you any "official" permission to keep the username. If you want to get an administrator's input on the issue, I'd suggest posting here with the adminhelp tag, which will alert the administrators that you'd like some more official input on the issue. Thanks, Raven1977Talk to meMy edits 23:31, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Your uploads: Now Commons
Wikipedia in 250 Sprachen. I hope I'm not totaly mistaken when using german on your talkpage, please ask me for translation if you dont understand my comment. --Martin H. (talk) 20:25, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
- Viele Grüße, --Martin H. (talk) 16:33, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Global Gender Gap Report image
The map showing the different countries for this doesn't appear to be right. Sri Lanka should be light blue and India red. I don't know to fix it though. Munci (talk) 13:28, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
Munci, It appears that the map was prepared by user Twicelines with the data contained in the report. Kindly contact him directly to correct the map. Best Matthias Lüfkens World Economic Forum (talk) 15:59, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
name
I've just seen this, as an administrator, and I think you must change your name. Our policy is really clear about this. One of the reasons for our policy is illustrated by what you say above "The risk of changing it to my personal username is that anyone in our organization will start editing Wikipedia - we had a junior colleague doing anonymous edits recently! " The thing is, we are not an extension of your organization, and, as far as we are concerned, he has every bit as much a right to edit this article as you do--we call this preventing ownership. Our coverage is not limited to what you as an official representative think suitable. If someone should edit it and do so inaccurately, you may correct it, but you would be expected to provide published sources justifying your position. If it is necessary to correct something in the name of the organization, we have a facility for doing this, WP:OTRS .
Quite apart from inaccuracy, other editors may disagree with what should or should not be emphasized, where additional detail is needed or detail is excessive, where official wording should be followed or not followed. They have equal rights to you. Actually, they have in a sense superior rights, since it is assumed that you are necessarily editing with a Conflict of interest, and may not have the most accurate judgment about the needs of the encyclopedia, as contrasted to the needs of the organization. Now, I have no doubt that you would be doing this in the most responsible manner, but not all organizations have done so. In fairness to your organization, it would be much better if the material were not seen as necessarily subject to your control. There are provisions for your seeking an exemption, but I advise you that it would probably look better if you didn't use them. I suggest you follow the procedure given above for requesting a change of name, and since you are signing your real name here, why not simply use that as your user name, and say on the user talk page whom you are and whom you represent?
All this is explained further in our FAQ about organisations]]. DGG ( talk ) 23:46, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Names should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, misleading, or related to a "real-world" group or organization. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
Please choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. However, do not create a new account if you wish to credit your existing contributions to a new name through a username change. To request a username change:
- Add
your new username here
on your user talk page. You should be able to edit this talk page even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a list of names that have already been taken. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Add
Your reason here
below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Cirt (talk) 19:11, 16 October 2009 (UTC)Happy to change the user name from World Economic Forum to my personal one Matthias Lüfkens:
