Shelford Girls' Grammar is an independent, Anglican, day school for girls, located in Caulfield, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Established in 1898, the school currently caters for approximately 550 students from pre-school to year 12, making it one of the smallest independent schools for girls in Victoria.
According to the Herald Sun, Shelford was the fourth best performing school in the 2006 Victorian Certificate of Education.[1]
Shelford is a member of Girls Sport Victoria (GSV),[2] and the Junior School Heads Association of Australia (JSHAA).
New initiatives
Shelford opened a Year 10 Centre for Excellence in 2008 located in St Kilda.
House System
The Houses at Shelford are Langley, Blundell, Lloyd and Thomas.
Notable alumni
- Brigitte Duclos - Television and radio presenter; Current co-host of the radio program Two Women and A Metro on Mix 1011 Melbourne and co-host of TV game show The Con Test on Network Ten
- Lady Anna Cowen - Former President of the World Education Fellowship (Queensland); Wife of former Governor-General, Sir Zelman Cowen (also attended St Catherine's School, Toorak)[3]
- Mary Emma Goldsmith Meares MBE - Welfare worker; Awarded King George V's silver jubilee (1935) and King George VI's coronation (1937) medals[4]
- Robyn Christine Robinson AM - President and South Pacific Liaison Officer of the Critical Incident Stress Management Foundation Australia; Former Clinical Director of the Victorian Ambulance Crisis Counselling Unit; Former Senior Lecturer/Deputy Director of the Soc.
