This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Kjkolb (talk | contribs) at 11:18, 25 December 2005 (benthos link, made links lowercase, added links, includes oceans). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

The Benthic zone is the lowest level of a body of water, such as an ocean or a lake. It is inhabited mostly by organisms that tolerate cool temperatures and low oxygen levels called benthos. "Zones" that occur above the benthic zone are the profundal zone, the limnetic, and the littoral.
