Aljazeera.com publishes news and opinion pieces of an inflammatory nature about current affairs in the Middle East. The site purports to be operated by Aljazeera Publishing, described as an "independent media organisation" that presents "facts as they happen".

Editorial approach

News articles contain indirect quotes from familiar news outlets such as Associated Press and the BBC, giving every appearance of factual correctness and objectivity. Its op-ed pieces follow an anti-Western, anti-Semitic line. One article (entitled Iraq war: “Crime against peace”) contains the following:

"Furthermore, it was a big lie and outright propaganda for the U.S. to say that it transferred "sovereignty" to its puppet government".

Another article (entitled The Neocons and Holocaust II) reads:

"A lot of Jewish people are still obsessed by the Holocaust myth and the specter of the return of violent anti-Semitism."

Comments section

Articles are followed by a section for reader comments. Posts tend to contain caustic exchanges between Westerners on the one hand, and Muslims and Middle Easterners on the other. It should be noted that posts are subject to approval and possible editing.

Contact section

The contact details for the site refer to a street address conflated with a post box address in the United Arab Emirates and telephone and fax numbers in the United Kingdom.
