Texas's 65th House of Representatives district
District 65 is a district of the Texas House of Representatives that serves a portion of Denton County. The current representative for District 65 is Republican Burt Solomons, who has served the district since 1994.
District description
The district is located wholly within Denton County. It is one of three serving Denton County. In terms of geography it comprises the eastern and southeastern portions of the county. Major cities in the district include the majority of Lewisville and those portions of Carrollton, Dallas, Frisco, and Plano that extend into Denton County.
Elections
2006 candidates
Solomons ran unopposed in the Republican primary in 2006. John E. Shuey opposed Solomons as the Libertarian candidate upon his selection on June 10, 2006 at the state Libertarian Party convention; the Democratic Party did not field a candidate.
Mr. Solomon won reelection to the Texas House, with 77.2% of the vote, and will serve as the District 65 representative in the Eightieth Texas Legislature. The 22.8% won by Mr. Shuey represents the largest percentage ever achieved by a Libertarian in this district.

From 1920 to 1951, District 65 was a flotorial district covering Burleson, Lee and Milam counties.
