Emma Kate Lahana (born June 27, 1984) is a New Zealand actress and singer, known for her role as Kira Ford on Power Rangers: Dino Thunder.

Early life

As a young girl Lahana loved music and dancing. Her first memories are of attempting to imitate performers she saw on television, from Michael Jackson to Judy Garland. She began ballet lessons when she was only 3 years old. At the age of 5 the family traveled to a number of different Pacific Islands.

Lahana has explored many other art forms, including violin, acting, musical theater and dance. She spent 2 seasons on a popular TV soap opera and has performed in numerous musicals as well.

Career

Played Erin Kingston on New Zealand TV drama Shortland Street and also appeared on Street Legal. She also portrayed the role of Fiona in Disney's You Wish!. In summer 2003, Emma landed the role of Kira Ford, the yellow Power Ranger on Power Rangers: Dino Thunder (after auditioning for a role of Tori Hanson/Blue Wind Ranger on Power Rangers Ninja Storm and not getting it). She had lost the part to Sally Martin, another actor. Ironically enough, she would later co-star with her in the team up episode of Dino Thunder "Thunder Storm" and the Power Rangers 15th Anniversary episode "Once a Ranger," in Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive, as part of a team of past Rangers who assist the current ones.

In April 2005, Lahana got her "big break" and signed with Big Much records for New York producer Peter Rizzo. She pulled out of the deal, later explaining when asked at Power Morphicon, that she realized acting was what she wanted to do and that her experience made her take acting more seriously.

Lahana appeared in an episode of the fourth season of Stargate Atlantis, "Outcast", and as the waitress abducted by a serial killer on the third season episode of Psych.

Lahana made her film debut in the 2007 release, Alien Agent. She currently resides in Vancouver, B.C. where Syfy (formerly Sci Fi Channel) films movies.

Lahana stars as Alyssa, the girlfriend of Jason Moss in the true-crime thriller Dear Mr. Gacy, expected to release in spring 2010.
