This is for all your hard work in just the past week, kicking out the most annoying sockpuppet ever to ruin a Disney article! Your diligence has definitely made it a lot easier for the rest of us to actually do some editing. Cheers, and keep up the good work! Cactusjump (talk)

What?

Yo why did you delete my userpage? It didn't have profanity! On the discussion for Evolution someone used a cuss word. Mine didn't have any profanity!

Sigh, the aggrevation is back again and managed to con another good editor into doing edits for him! User:Ice Age lover and User:207.201.216.12 are the socks. I've sent to AIV and I think I got the latest round of stuff cleaned up. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 00:34, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you have semi-protected or protected a lot of articles. I don't know the history behind this Bambifan101 sockpuppet master so I won't tell you what to do, but I'm wondering, is it really necessary to FULLY protect some of those articles until December 2009? Gary King (talk) 04:31, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
He's been at this for over a year, using IP and named socked including ranges no one will range block because of collateral damage. 120+ confirmed socks, and another 109 highly likely just not tagged confirmed (mostly the IPs) Semi-protecting his targets has been the only thing that had any effect in slowing his efforts (and now he's taken to trying to trick established editors into doing edits for him or getting them to make unprotection requests). See Wikipedia:Long term abuse#Bambifan101 for a longer summary. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 04:35, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm talking about FULLY protected articles. Us regulars can't edit them, only admins can. Gary King (talk) 04:38, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You issued full protection on several articles, including Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders, Garfield's Fun Fest, Kung Fu Panda, The Penguins of Madagascar, and dozens more. Gary King (talk) 05:49, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I assure you that I cannot edit them. Gary King (talk) 05:56, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty sure it's not a software bug. If you check your contributions, you can find the articles that you marked as fully protected by searching for the string "edit=sysop". Gary King (talk) 05:59, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(Chiming in) I agree that the ones mentioned by Gary King above are all fully-protected. If I, as an admin, click "edit" on Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders, I get the usual text: "WARNING: This page has been protected so that only administrators can edit it. Please ensure that you are following the protection policy." I get the log entry "02:29, 29 June 2009 PMDrive1061 (talk | contribs | block) protected Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders [edit=sysop] (expires 02:29, 29 December 2009 (UTC)) [move=sysop] (expires 02:29, 29 December 2009 (UTC)) ‎ (Excessive vandalism: Bambifan101 target) (hist | change)" (emphasis added), and I get the pink background to the editing box indicating a fully-protected page. BencherliteTalk 06:04, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have a particular article that I'd like to get unprotected at the moment, no. I just noticed that one of the articles I was watching was fully protected, which I found extremely odd considering it gets one or two edits a month on average. I can wait until you are able to drop the fully protected articles down to semi-protection. There are roughly 40 pages that you have fully protected recently. Gary King (talk) 06:06, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Vandalism will always be a threat. I don't really see how placing dozens or even hundreds of articles under semi-protection will solve anything, since persistent vandals, like how you described this one in particular, will always find an unprotected article to vandalize if they feel like it. The protection on The Fox and the Hound appears to have expired, and it was hit again almost immediately. Looks like he may have a new IP range and is quick hopping between IPs. Guess he went traveling again...ugh. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:21, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Earlier today I closed an Mfd (Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Allsterecho talk redirects) that I had voted in. Usually you shouldn't do this, however, the result was "speedy delete" and was carried out by Graeme Bartlett. Obviously, as I am not an admin, I didn't delete it myself. I only closed it because Graeme seemed to have forgotten. Do you think this will come back to bite me later on? -T'Shael,The Vulcan Overlord 16:01, 24 June 2009 (UTC 04:09, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, okay, thanks. :) As to Bambifan, I appreciate the accolades, but I'm not sure that I did anything to deserve them. Maybe it was Collectian? Or perhaps I did and forgot, as this has happened in the past. Either way, I appreciate it. :) -T'Shael,The Vulcan Overlord 16:01, 24 June 2009 (UTC 04:13, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, perhaps I was. Today has been crazy and I've been all over the place, so I probably just don't remember. I've had the privilege of running into several of his socks, and must agree with you, that I do pity him, as he's more sad than anything else. Haven't seen you around lately but hope to see you more active in the future as you are quite an asset to this site. XOP Networks Page Deletion

The recently created wikipedia page for XOP Networks was subject to speedy deletion. I justified the existence of the page by saying it was not created for promotion or vandalism. Please let me know if it is safe to begin editing the page under this new user name which more clearly identifies me as an individual, not a company associate. (I am not employed by XOP Networks, nor do I have any intention of promoting their products.) I simply wanted to begin their encyclopedia page so that others may learn about the company's history, founding, and miscellaneous facts. Again, I just want to know if I can safely make edits to this page under my new user name.

Thanks, Chirag Gupta

The World Wasn't Meant page deletion

Hello. I recently created a page for the webcomic The World Wasn't Meant. I believe it was deleted for lack of third party links/information which would verify its significance. I have links to various third party articles (reviews, etc) that I was hoping to include, but was unsure where to include them. I am new to editing Wikipedia. Is there some way to include these third party links, even if you are not specifically mentioning them in the body of the article? Perhaps they go in the reference section?

Thanks.

Adrenalin-NY Deleted Page

Hi,

I was hoping to continue to work on my page. I have not had time to include my references. Is it that as soon as I start a page I have to finish it.

I was under the impression that I could create a page and then return to edit it at a later date. In any case I am hoping that you can reinstate my page so that I can continue working on it.

MT6235 Processor

I was just going to add to the content when you wiped it out. There is no information on this processor on the Internet and aggregating it is a huge task.

Trying to do a favor for my fellow man here, I posted what little I had at first.

I have more now:

MT6235consists of the following subsystems: Microcontroller Unit (MCU) Subsystem: includes an ARM926EJ-S RISC processor and its accompanying memory management and interrupt handling logics; Digital Signal Processor (DSP) Subsystem: includes a DSP and its accompanying memory, memory controller, and interrupt controller; MCU/DSP Interface: the junction at which the MCU and the DSP exchange hardware and software information; Microcontroller Peripherals: includes all user interface modules and RF control interface modules; Microcontroller Coprocessors: runs computing-intensive processes in place of the Microcontroller; DSP Peripherals: hardware accelerators for GSM/GPRS/EDGE channel codec; Multi-media Subsystem: integrates several advanced accelerators to support multi-media applications; Voice Front End: the data path for converting analog speech to and from digital speech; Audio Front End: the data path for converting stereo audio from an audio source; Baseband Front End: the data path for converting a digital signal to and from an analog signal from the RF modules; Timing Generator: generates the control signals related to the TDMA frame timing; and, Power, Reset and Clock Subsystem: manages the power, reset, and clock distribution inside MT6235.

Why was this wiped out?

Immediate deletion of page

Hi,

Sorry to be a bother but I just created a page for a person in the media, Alex Hooper-Hodson and it was instantly deleted. I can provide the appropriate online references i.e. links to major newspapers sites and articles written by him to verify he falls into the category of a notable person. Other family members of his are on Wikipedia and he has a very similar career with appropriately important instances that can be referenced. I am not writing this entry due to knowing him or any other reason but just I heard he's finally stopped working at my favourite magazine and thought he deserved a Wikipedia entry for all his good work at my favourite magazine.

Can you advise how I should proceed?

Deletion of Buff Monster page

Hello. I am hoping you can explain to me why the page I began on the artist, Buff Monster, was immediately deleted. While I am aware that the article needed further citations, I would think a simple Google search on the artist's name and the list I included of his solo shows would at least position him for notability contemplation. There was no "contentious" or negative material, nor was the article written non-neutrally, so the complete deletion seems needlessly harsh. By Wikipedia's own policy (quoted below), time was not even allowed for users to contribute content to attempt to attain the acceptable standards (I'm guessing this includes further content and further citations).

As you can see, this is my first Wikipedia entry. There are a few other notable artists working in the field of toy art for whom I would like to contribute Wikipedia entries. My assumption--perhaps incorrect--was that other Wikipedia users or admins would see the couple coding/citation errors in this first entry and pitch in with correct tagging. Again, another assumption was that the page on Buff Monster would grow with information submitted by other Wikipedia users, but it "had to start somewhere."

I am not Buff Monster, nor have I actually ever physically met Buff Monster. I am just a fan and journalist of this genre of art. I'm hoping to recover the text I began on Buff Monster and start to contribute more. But how does complete deletion explain what I did wrong, and help me not make the same mistakes (and more work for you) in future article submissions?

Jeremy

Biographical material about a living individual that is not compliant with this policy should be improved and rectified; if this is not possible, then it should be removed. If the entire page is substantially of poor quality, primarily containing contentious material that is unsourced or poorly sourced, then it may be necessary to delete the entire page as an initial step, followed by discussion.

Page deletion is normally a last resort. If a dispute centers around the suitability of the page for inclusion – for example, if there are doubts as to notability or the subject has requested deletion – then this is addressed at xFD rather than by summary deletion. Summary deletion in part or whole is relevant when the page contains unsourced negative material or is disparaging and written non-neutrally, and when this cannot readily be repaired or replaced to an acceptable standard. (Replacement might include a high quality older revision or high quality rewrite.)

The deleting administrator should be prepared to explain the deletion to other administrators, by e-mail if the material is sensitive; administrators and other editors who object to the deletion should bear in mind that the deleting admin may be aware of issues that others are not. Disputes may be taken to deletion review, but any protracted public discussion should be avoided for deletions involving sensitive personal material about living persons, particularly if it is negative. Such debates may be courtesy blanked upon conclusion.

Lorenzo Von Matterhorn

I notice you delete the image for Lorenzo Von Matterhorn. File:Lorenzo von matterhorn.jpg Perhaps there is an opportunity here. You are probably aware the page was a hoax made by the creators of the show How I Met Your Mother and although the image was deleted because permission was unknown perhaps the person who posted it can be asked to clarify since they must be connected with the show. Perhaps this is an opportunity to get a good fair use (or even better Creative Commons) image of Barney Stinson that can be used rather than an screenshot from an episode. Can the image still be retrieved and the user account that posted it be asked for further details? Since the image was deleted I see only your username and the deletion notice and I don't know if it is possible to go back and ask the user, perhaps you know?

I think we need to be careful here. This set of sock puppets goes back a long way and has a very long history of abuse related to Vitus Barbaro. I would be very cautious taking what these accounts say at face value. --Leivick (talk) 07:36, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I see you have unblocked 12qq, but his talk page still has the template saying they are indefinitely blocked. If you take a look at the Sockpuppet investigation listed above, you will find them basically admitting all of the other recently blocked accounts are meatpuppets. Joseph L. Kennedy page deletion

Hello, You deleted a page for Joseph L. Kennedy. He is a candidate for the US senate on the ballot in the Massachusetts special election to be held in January. I would like to talk...

Dear PMDrive1061,

It has come to my attention that you have deleted my page for the crime of "Vandalism." The deletion I feel is unjust to delete my page because I had no intention on "vandalizing" Wikipedia with fake articles. "The Four™", the name of my article, was deleted due to the fact that it violated Wiki-laws (G3: Vandalism. The truth is that The Four™ is a legitimate organization at my high school of Highland High School and I just wanted to share our fictional story with the world. I had no intention of vandalizing Wikipedia in anyway. I poured my heart and soul into that article and seeing that it had been deleted nearly crushed me. That is why I request that you please consider un-deleting it and letting it exist, for a few days. That is all I ask, Thank your for your time. - The Fourhead —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Fourhead (talkcontribs) 02:24, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

oil painting reproduction

Hello,

I'm creating one page named "oil painting reproduction", you said that it's copyright infrigement of http://www.art-ych.com/oil-painting-news/html/407.html.

You're wrong! I'm the original author "Lewis Liu" of this article. The website art-ych.com pirate my article without my permission!!!

The article's full name is The Industrial Report of Oil Painting Reproduction in China in 2006 -- What Course to Follow?

You may find the full article here http://www.oilpaintingfactory.com/english/report-oil-painting-industry.html, and I may send you the Chinese version if you want.

So please recover the deleted page by you!

Tks.

It doesn't matter who stole what. Copyright infringement in this case means that an article has had a significant amount copied from another source. Regardless of what that source is, it's not allowed. You need to write the article in original own words. Thank you. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 10:27, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

then how could i contest deletion?

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding (hangon) to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

this is message that how can i contest deletion.. i cannot add with speedy deletion tag.. is that wrong? plz teach me how to do that. thnx. Gmlcks101 (talk) 17:58, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it seems like the article has been deleted. In the future, though, if an article that you write is nominated for speedy deletion, and you think that you can adequately address the concerns of the tagger, then simply place {{hangon}} on the article's page and then address the concern(s) raised. @Kate (parlez) 18:01, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Kirkstall Power Station Page

I don`t agree with your deletion of this page. You say it has no substantive content, what are the opening and closing dates if not substantive content ! That was what I originally wanted to know but couldn`t find on Wikipedia. I have started a few other pages and found that generally those with more information will add it fairly quickly. --JustinSmith (talk) 18:40, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi PMDrive1061! I came across Da Da Da (Lil Wayne Single) while Huggling. I then went to place a welcome message on the creating editor’s talk page, since it was obvious that that was his first new article attempt. Once on his page, I found your comment. I thought I would spend a few minutes and help the fellow out by wikifying his stub so that it would not be deleted. This I have done, to the best of my limited wiki song article ability, as the history shows.

What I do not understand is that, I later discovered in my watchlist, is indicated that you deleted Sam20047426’s new article. But, how come it was still there when I went to edit it?

Also, have I done enough to retain it as a stub?

Finally, please have a read of the comment that I put on his talk page regarding the article. If it is to be a first article lesson for him, perhaps the article stub could be retained, so long as you feel that the work I have done is sufficient to save it. Thanks! — SpikeToronto 19:58, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
