The Kids Next Door, or KND for short, is a worldwide organization of trained children under the age of 13 who battle adult tyranny in the animated series Codename: Kids Next Door. The current age of the KND, the seventh age, was founded by Numbuh 0, after he discovered the legendary "Book of KND". The organization's purpose is to protect kids from adult tyranny and teenagers (anyone over the age of 13) but they only battle evil adults, as stated in Operation: M.A.T.A.D.O.R. All members' codenames are numbers, spelled "numbuh". Earlier in the KND, girls were not allowed in the organization. The KND wear normal clothes."

Training

Cadets, referred to as Cadets Next Door, are trained by Numbuh 60 in the KND Arctic Base. After they graduate on the Moonbase and pick a number for a codename, they put their DNA (booger) into the KND Codemodule and KND Super Computer, and are assigned to a sector.

Decommissioning

When an operative turns 13 years old, they are to be decommissioned by the head decommissioner, Numbuh 86, and her Decommissioning Squad. Some manage to escape and usually turn on the KND and become villains, while some of the best operatives are falsely decommissioned and go undercover with real villains to inform the KND about teenager and possibly adult facilities. Only some operatives know this.

Bases

The KND are split into sectors around the world, which are gigantic treehouses. The most important base is the Moonbase Headquarters, and the second most important base is the Arctic Base. The names of the sectors are letters, such as Sector C or Sector J. Usually the letter is the first letter of the location of the sector, for example Sector C is located in China. (Before being told that, Numbuh 4 thought Sector C was located in Arizona)

Positions

Operatives have positions, some that are:

  • Supreme Leader
  • Sector Leader
  • Second-in-command
  • Technology officer
  • Spy
  • Smoothie server
  • Emergency captain
  • Weapons console
  • Scientist
  • Engineer
  • Detective
  • Hand-to-hand combat
  • Soda,snacks,and treats officer
  • Nurse
  • Chef
  • Mechanic
  • Pilot
  • Fashion Specialist
  • Boxer
  • Toy seller
  • Toy collector
  • Head of group
  • Diversionary tactics
  • Tactical yoyo specialist
  • Splinter Cell

To become the supreme leader there is a game of tag the carrier. Whoever is "the carrier" at noon becomes the supreme leader. This job seems to be not well liked through the organization.

Technology

To accomplish their various missions, the Kids Next Door have access to a variety of gadgets and devices stored in their treehouse (often Rube Goldberg devices that are products of two-by-four technology) as well as the resources of the global weapons of mass destruction. They use items such as cars and pustols to make their technology. The technology officers, engineers, and scientists usually create technology. The names of technology are usually acronyms. It was originally shiny and high-tech, but Cartoon Network thought Dexter's Laboratory had already used that. [1]

Book of KND

The Book of KND is a book found by Monty Uno. When he fell in a tree he found the book, which gave him hope to re-start the Kids Next Door. It serves as an instruction guide on how to handle and build 2x4 technology. It also contains each operatives' story. Numbuh 1's is "We are Kids Next Door". It was mistakenly thought to be stolen in Operation: E.N.G.L.A.N.D. At current, it is unknown who originally wrote the book. Numbuh Zero implies that it is what allows him to resist Grandfather's Senior Citizombie powers. Its current location is unknown, however there are two likely places: The KND Moonbase, or the treehouse of Nigel Uno (Numbuh 1), the son of Numbuh Zero, which is where the book was originally hidden by Numbuh Zero at some point before his decommissioning. Given that Nigel Uno has stated he had scanned the tree several times and had never found the book inside it before, it is likely that he returned the book to that part of the tree to protect it from attack by the various villains the KND organization battles.

KND Nightly News

KND Nightly News is a television program covering recent news involving the Kids Next Door. So far it has only been seen in Operation: C.O.U.C.H. Numbuh 1 and Numbuh 2 seem to be fans (although, Numbuh 2 seems to have a crush on Numbuh 10) while the rest of Sector V seems bored watching it. The anchors are Numbuh 10 and a boy who cracks bad puns. It also includes a list of operatives who have turned thirteen years old and would be decommissioned that day.
