Long-term abuse is a page intended to hold information describing editors or IPs who should be known by as many users as possible to aid in detecting and defeating their policy violations. This page has been confused with several other pages, so please check the "Explanation" section if this is your first time here.

Explanation
This page should contain only properly categorized, unique entries on specific vandals with enough relevant and correct information to allow other people to identify them and their tracks. To keep this page functioning smoothly, please:
- Do not add an entry here requesting action, such as a block or page protect. This page is not scanned regularly, as Administrator intervention against vandalism (WP:AIV) and, to a lesser degree, Requests for page protection (WP:RFPP) are. If you need someone blocked or a page protected, please refer to those two links.
- Only add vandals here; if you have been blocked as well as the "vandal" for edit warring or similar, do not add them yourself or use sockpuppets to do so. This page is not for dealing with two sided edit-wars, only one-sided vandalism.
- Only add vandals who need to be pointed out, such as sneaky sockpuppeteers, trolls, etc. Really obvious vandals should be reported to WP:AIV or, if they use sockpuppets, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations. Likewise, vandals should only be added here if their vandalisms are serious (A good rule of thumb is whether or not their primary account has been indefinitely blocked). If you are not sure, ask on the talk page; we'll help.
- Do not report IP addresses! Severe IP vandals should be reported to Wikipedia:Abuse response, not here.
- Do not use this page for discussions. If there needs to be a discussion, start it on the talk page and link to its section from this page. If there is a discussion going on elsewhere, link to it.
- Do not "sign" your entries, but do say who originally reported them, or who are the most knowledgeable about them so they can be contacted if need be.
- Do not use relative phrases like "recently" or "lately" without qualification. Try using "as of" to remedy this: "As of August 3, ..."
- Do not add entries without the vital information enumerated below; they will almost certainly be useless and end up being removed.
- Keep this page free of useless content: Avoid off-topic discussion or other unneeded text, do not add images (Link to them if they are relevant to the entry), and refrain from injecting emotions into reports here.
- Remember to update entries with new or important information.
Criteria for addition
Users listed should have a marked past of policy violations well before and after their final, indefinite, block. User accounts that are listed as vandals but only have minor blocks, or "major vandals"/"sockpuppets" that aren't blocked indefinitely, will likely be removed. The relevant logs should back up your assertions, not contradict them.
Note that shared IP addresses (e.g. Schools, libraries, prisons, legislatures, etc.) engaging in egregious vandalism should be reported on this page as they specialize in dealing with such IPs.
Criteria for removal
Any entry may be removed by anyone if it is clearly:
- An old entry of an inactive vandal; subpages may be nominated for deletion on Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion
- Completely improper, incorrect or malicious (False report), incomplete or totally incoherent. Vandals "reporting themselves" should almost always be reverted.
Adding to this page
- Check the subpages to ensure that they aren't already known about there.
- If the vandal's totally new, create an entry at the bottom of the appropriate section (see below for an explanation), with a descriptive heading, and under it a "Modus operandi" subsection.
- This is vital: Without information on what a certain "vandal" does or how they do it, it will be impossible for other readers to understand how to spot them. Entries without this information will almost certainly be removed. See below for more information.
- If they're already listed on this page, add new information if you have it (Such as new sockpuppets or MOs). Discussion should be kept to a minimum, such as an open ended question about a puzzling attribute. In this instance, if you post the answer, incorporate it into the entry and remove the question. This page is extremely long as it is, if there needs to be prolonged discussion, use a talk page and link to it from the entry. Off topic discussion should be removed by anyone and any large discussion that has idled may be summarized.
Necessary information in an entry
Entries MUST have the following information to have utility:
- A list of the vandal's account(s). IP addresses should not be listed unless they are used SOLELY by them or have other useful attributes. Usernames should be listed to with the {{vandal}} template and {{IPvandal}} used for any IPs. If they have a category for their sockpuppets, link to it.
- A description of his/her modus operandi. Good detail is important; unneeded information will be trimmed out by others, but a under-explained entry will require other people to sift through links, or just remove it. Linking some "diffs" (revisions) of their vandalisms is a good way to provide information on their vandalism it will show exactly what the vandal has been doing. Note that linking to a "rolling list", such as a page's history, is NOT passable: pages keep getting edits and after a while, the vandalic entries are several pages back.
In either report, you don't need to list more than five socks/examples, barring something extremely unusual. If there are more than that many sockpuppets, consider creating a category and tagging their userpages with sockpuppet tags.
If you aren't sure that your entry is correct, it is OK to request formatting help in the entry. If people have questions when they fix the format, they may ask you for more details.

The IP above attempted to remove this section [3] and is noted for ranting wildly and making borderline personal attacks on people he runs in to. With a new IP, he will often make several edits about Saskatchewan politics (IP addresses mostly trace to Saskatoon or similar) before returning to Suki or New World Religion.

Modus operandi
Sneaky vandal, alters statistics about population, race and skin colour, entering fabricated or poorly-calculated values or blanking demographics sections. Turn-ons include weather, human height, blond hair colour, Canadian Aboriginal population. Also categorizes people into ethnic categories (many of these are legit edits). This vandal has used various Canadian IP addresses as well as Brazilian dynamic IPs.
Examples

- Creating race categories by aggregating actual multiple-response statistics, which should not be added
- Compiling race statistics by looking at high-school yearbook photos[15]
- Blanking demographics tables or article sections.
- Explaining away invalid statistics calculations (this has become rare)
Bogdanov sockpuppets
Sockpuppets have been attacking the article Bogdanov Affair since 2005. The sockpuppets are easily recognisable; all use long edit summaries, never post to the talk page, and are completely unsubtle as to their reverts (that is, the diffs of each individual sockpuppet, when checked, will be identical or near-identical).
Until recently single-purpose accounts were used exclusively, since February 2007 the sockpuppeteer(s) have somehow begun resurrecting dormant accounts and using those. For example:
- Special:Contributions/Bester, made four edits in July 2005, resurrected in February 2007.
- Special:Contributions/Stern, made over 500 edits from 2004 to August 2006, resurrected in February 2007.
- Special:Contributions/Tron, made around a score of edits in Feburary 2004, resurrected three years later.
The above accounts showed none of the telling characteristics (long edit summaries etc) until their resurrection, when they began showing the signs listed above. None (as of Feb 2007) have edited Bogdanov Affair before falling dormant, but after resurrection they only edited Bogdanov Affair, even though they may have had diverse edit histories prior to being compromised. Whether these accounts have been hacked or willingly given over is not important unless the accounts request unblocking; as of February 2007 none of them have done so.
Note that the arbitration committee has ruled several times (e.g. RFAR/Iasson) "For the purpose of dispute resolution when there is uncertainty whether a party is one user with sockpuppets or several users with similar editing habits they may be treated as one user with sockpuppets". In this particular case "the criteria for determining external involvement shall be a review of their edit history, it being presumed that if the vast majority of their edits are to the Bogdanov Affair they are not Wikipedia editors but persons involved in the external dispute." (see RFAR/Regarding The Bogdanov Affair)
In summary, all accounts that display the above obvious characteristics should be reverted and blocked on sight. Accounts that suddenly begin showing these characteristics despite a previous edit history that bears no resemblance to the Bogdanov sockpuppetry should be considered compromised and also blocked. If the compromised accounts request unblocking, that can be dealt with when it comes.

BenH
BenH (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) was repeatedly warned for vandalism and infantile edits to television station articles. He's had an RfC pending on him for almost a year and hasn't bothered to respond--he's been indefinitely blocked since July. Moreover, he's been suspected of using numerous sockpuppets. An administrator mentioned that he'd blocked one of them since BenH was permanently banned, but there's no notation in his block log of this. One of his suspected sockpuppets was active as late as March 20.
Modus operandi
He makes unsourced and low-quality edits to TV station and other miscellaneous articles. Some of the things he does are add unsourced and false dates to TV station foundings, and stubbing articles that are way past stub status.

This vandal uses sockpuppets to create hoax articles about purported animated films. Many of his articles either copy the wikitext of a legitimate film article or an article about a children's book. For example, Sir Tod (1974 film) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) is a copy of The Jungle Book (1967 film) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). Some of his accounts combine legitimate and vandalous edits.
Those dealing with this user may want to watchlist his articles, as he frequently removes deletion tags and reposts deleted pages.
When he creates a hoax article, he will often add it to a list or template, such as the following:

Administrator Tregoweth has been watching Lyle123's activities since January 2007, and is probably the most knowledgeable about his activities.
Freddy Rantol (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) - this might be Lyle123's "original" account, from December 2006. This user created a fake animated feature article and added it to the "list of animated feature films" ([38]). He also created an article about a 12-year-old boy, which was deleted. Since then this account has had no edits.
In June 2007, a CU request on StealBoy (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) was requested. The chances of the two being the same are high, and Lyle is not afraid of making a sockpuppet farm.

In addition, he constantly re-created the article Cat Tale, a now-canceled film that was to be released (but not produced) by Disney. The title has since been protected. "Cat the Movie" may be an attempt to revive the article under a different title.
- Most if not all of the sockpuppets are named using a CamelCase type of format relating to motion pictures. One recent example was User:TheLawmoviebyAmblinEntertainment1986. This account was created concurrently with two others. The sole edit from this account was a nanostub about a non-existent movie titled "The Law." Modus operandi
This very prolific vandal uses sockpuppets to add false information to articles related to pop stars and pop music. He has also created hoax articles about puported upcoming albums (e.g. Tatyana Ali's second studio album, the content of which he repeatedly recreates at various titles). Articles this user takes a particular interest in include Kylie Minogue, Danni Minogue, Aaron Carter, Tatyana Ali, Deborah Gibson, Tara Kemp, Coko, Tracie Spencer and Teddy Riley (producer). Some of his accounts combine legitimate and vandal edits - however his most obvious characteristic is the addition of false 'new album' and record label info and inappropriate vocal range and genre categories to pop singer articles, as well as making unsourced/false additions to various lists of singers by vocal range. He also tends to mark the vast majority of his logged-in edits as minor.

Another characteristic, identifying edit, although not a vandal edit per se (JJonathan has been edit-warring on the Pop princess article for some time), can be seen here.
JJonathan frequently has more than one sockpuppet account on the go at any one time and simply creates more as required without any apparent intention of communicating or changing his ways. There does appear to be a certain consistency in naming, as a browse through the sockpuppet categories above will demonstrate. Variants of "Jonathan", "Joseph", "Junkie", "Libra", "September", "1989", "Groovy", "Pop", "NYC", "Dancer" and "Ball" pop up frequently in the usernames of his socks.
He is currently mostly editing using anon IPs in the 172.1xx.xx.xxx range, though the editing pattern is identical.
The User:Natalie Erin vandal
- Not sure, if I should post this here nor if somebody already did it previously, but I suspect a large batch of sockpuppets targeting the same user - like trying to post (sometimes without success) disgusting images or other type of offending materials to her user page. This is possibly ongoing for several weeks, perhaps months.[52]
Did someone or will someone do a checkuser on all those accounts that have been vandalizing the User:Natalie Erin userpage. The type of vandalism makes me think that there is a long list of sockpuppets. Thanks!

A vandal operating primarily out of the New York City public library open computer terminals, this vandal has impersonated members of baseball statistics organizations and inserted unsourced and false information into numerous baseball-related articles. "Eldritch", the "Jon K is racist" vandal
Unregistered user making repeated claims that musician is racist since 13th April. I detailed the vandalism here and was advised to add notice at "Long-term abuse".
Warnings have been left on 10 of the IPs talk pages, and two of the IPs were temp blocked (86.129.124.222 and 86.129.142.128), though the vandalism simply continued under different IPs. The artist article is currently under it's 4th period of protection, though the frequency with which the user vandalises other articles probably doesn't yet warrant protection on those.
Modus operandi
Clearly a vendetta against the artist. User occasionally responds to reversion of his vandalism with "it wasn't me" responses, but subsequently betrays himself by going on to vandalise other articles shortly after, in the same manner, from the same IP address. I believe the user's ISP probably randomly assigns an IP address (from a range) each time the user connects to the internet, as there are ususally several edits from one IP on one day, then several edits from a different IP on another day.
User primarily vandalises the Jon Kennedy article, but has also vandalised related / linked articles, Talk:Jon Kennedy, John Kennedy (disambiguation), John Kennedy (disc jockey), Grand Central Records, Grand Central Translation, Grand Central Vol. 2, Grand Central Vol. 3, Kava Kava, One Offs... Remixes & B-Sides, Take My Drum to England, Tru Thoughts, Useless Wooden Toys, We're Just Waiting for You Now. Some instances include attempting to add legitimacy to his claim by linking to a comment made on the forum on the official Ninja Tune website, by a user who's username is also the artist's pseudonym. It is quite evident that the comment in question has notthing to do with the artist. User has vandalised the Racism article and seemingly random articles Altona, Manitoba, Leiosauridae, Ryde Pier Head railway station with the same claims about Jon Kennedy. User has also vandalised Ross Errilly Friary (blanking page), Bernard Manning and Jim Davidson (additional "race"-based vandalism).
In addition, some users who have reverted the vandal's work have had their the user pages vandalised in repsonse, Wikipedia:Editor review/Magnus animum2, User talk:Lights, User talk:SJP. On one of these, the vandal signed the message "Eldritch".
Upon being warned, the vandal left responses at User talk:86.153.142.101 and User talk:86.129.142.128.
IPs used so far
There may be more, but by checking the edit history of each IP that vandalised the Jon Kennedy article (15 different IPs since 13th April), I noted the other articles he'd vandalised, and then checked those for further examples of similar vandalism, which turned up 4 further IPs.

Repeatedly attacked George Elokobi and User/User Talk pages of any users who either warned him or had reverted his vandalism. Attempted to conceal evidence by blanking the User Talk pages for his sockpuppets, and any pages that contained evidence of his vandalism. Nearly every one of his socks has requested {{unblock}}, often inserting personal attacks towards Wikipedia admins as the reason for unblock.
After his original account has been blocked, the vandal has made heavy use of sockpuppets (24 total identified so far) to continue, including four created several days prior to the incident.

Checkuser confirmed several sockpuppets from this editor who operated around the margins of the Jmfangio-Chrisjnelson arbitration case.

Disrupts American football articles with a particular interest in University of Notre Dame and college football. Claims to be a graduate of the university while inserting unsourced and often inaccurate information. Aggressive responses to conflict include creation of an impersonation account timed to coincide with a userblock on another editor during arbitration. PWeeHurman is a sockpuppeteer that was indefinitely banned on October 26, 2007 for disruption. He currently uses sockpuppets to evade bans. He has over 40 suspected sockpuppets.
Naming conventions are nearly always variations on the name "Pee-Wee Herman." There may be a copycat or copycats working as this individual, possibly coordinated through Encyclopedia Dramatica similar to efforts made by banned user JarlaxleArtemis, aka "Grawp."
This individual or individuals is/are highly abusive toward administrators and non-administrative users who attempt to circumvent vandalism by sockpuppet accounts.
He also has a known history of tagging certain articles with images of penises, penis-related items, and attacks. Should this happen, revert this and block the sockpuppet(s) immediately. Then tag the sock user name with either template: {{Blockedsock|PWeeHurman}} or {{Sockpuppet|PWeeHurman}} and hit the user talk page with {{sockblock}}, and log the event here.

LBHS Cheerleader (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is a group of vandals who represent themselves as cheerleaders at Lemon Bay High School. They have varying editing styles, but most of their vandalism is related to cheerleading, LBHS, rival schools, or harassment of vandal fighters. Such behavior got the main account indefinitely blocked on January 28, 2008. They usually edit from Embarq, Comcast, wireless ISPs, dial-up ISPs, and open proxies, sometimes as an IP and sometimes under an account. One of the vandals indicated that most of the group's members are actually Charlotte HS Tarpons trying to make Lemon Bay look silly, mostly Charlotte Tarpon Cheerleaders.
Modus operandi
As this is a group of meat puppets, the editing style of the group varies from vandal to vandal. Many of them insert cheerleader vandalism into articles. Some have replaced articles with statements such as "Hooray for Lemon Bay!!!," some have added "<3" and similar lines to the Lemon Bay HS article, some have attacked rival schools including Charlotte High School, Port Charlotte High School, and Venice High School. Some add the Lemon Bay HS home page to random articles. Some go around writing anti-cheerleading statements. Some insert statements such as "Jane Doe at Lemon Bay is the best cheerleader in the world" into cheerleading related articles. Some just beg to be unblocked. Some just go around harassing vandal fighters on their user pages. Sometimes the harassing vandals will attempt to find vandal fighers on sites such as Myspace and Facebook. Just ignore it, block them, and/or report them for abuse. The (throw away) accounts often have a default picture, LBHS or cheerleading related URL, and are usually set to private, but are usually blank for the most part when they are set as public.

This user has established a long-term pattern of personal attacks, wikistalking, adding spam links, and in particular sockpuppet abuse to evade blocks. To date the user has created 16 sockpuppet accounts and vandalised articles, attacked other editors and even threatened legal action from 68 identified IP addresses (majority being AT&T from St.Louis) since December of 2006. "Dat Dere Cell-tech Vandal"
This user, (or possibly number of users) originates from Bodybuiding.com's message board http://forum.bodybuilding.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=310862&d=1150408493. Their primary goal is to add the phrase "Dat Dere Cell-tech" to articles relating to (mainly) Ronnie Coleman, MuscleTech, and other bodybuilding-related articles. This ongoing vandalism has been taking place since June 2006. The original vandal account is Danwat1234, but also includes others including, Thegenerel (talk · contribs) and Psamtani (talk · contribs) and a large number of IP addresses. - Noticed new additional IPs and user accounts - vandalism now extends to the Celltech article. User:Felipe Garcia The NASCAR/Pokémon Vandal
Felipe Garcia (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), probably male based on the fact he includes the name "Tyler", "Tyler Racing" or "Tyler425" in some his edits and has registered an account with the name "Felipe Garcia", vandalizes articles mostly about NASCAR drivers, like this edit he made to Ryan Newman, although he also sometimes vandalizes pages about individual races, tracks, and other NASCAR-related topics. This user changes stats, usually replacing the number of races a driver has won with a very large number, and adds "PETESBRG Speedway" to the information boxes. His main targets are Kyle Petty, Greg Biffle, and Matt Kenseth, although he has recently focused more on DEI and Petty Enterprises instead of Roush drivers. This user has vandalized countless other NASCAR-related articles. His main vandal spree occured in June, but he still ovandalizes from a Midwestern US-based dynamic IP in the 63.x.x.x-64.x.x.x range or uses sockpuppets. There is a reason to believe the early IP vandalism were attacks made by Garcia because one of Garcia's sockpuppets had a username containing Tyler Racing.
Most recently, Garcia has been using sockpuppet accounts instead of a dynamic IP, and has been targeting NASCAR articles mainly Kyle Petty, always inserting false information that claims Petty is Latino. Other common NASCAR targets include Bobby Labonte, Dale Earnhardt, Adam Petty, almost anything related to Petty Enterprises, and many other topics. He also attacks Pokémon articles and Administrators' userpages, though he sometimes vandalizes random articles. He often replaces the voice actors' names in the Pokémon articles with the names of NASCAR drivers and claims the show is of Mexican origin instead of Japanese, and calls anyone who reverts his edits racist and refers to Wikipedia as "wiKKKipedia" in his edit summaries. He also sometimes impersonates other vandals in his edit summaries, such as "for Latino pride and epic lulz" or "Visit Felipe Garcia is back.com a must see". He has over 40 sockpuppets.

Runtshit
"Runtshit" is a vandal who stalks User:RolandR. Typically, this vandal places childish taunts, often with scatological reference to "Roland" and/or "Tony", on pages relating to the Arab-Israeli conflict or to Marxism. However, the vandal has also engaged in less obvious, POV-pushing edits, defending certain notable commentators on Israel and Palestine and smearing others; a conflict of this kind may be the origin of the obsession with RolandR. The abuse began in September 2006, and continued as of 1 November 2009, at which date Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Runtshit included 1005 usernames and IPs, and Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Runtshit included a further 71. Runtshit has also established at least three sockpuppets at Simple English Wikipedia. Runtshit frequently uses open proxies whether logged in or not. Following a checkuser report on 2 January 2009, two IPs on the University of Haifa network were blocked as sockpuppets of this vandal.

The most recently suspected sock, as of April, is User:Boronganon. And I think he had done enough; he made hoaxes such as the now-deleted article Victory Combat Force Security Agency "owned" by a certain "Gomander S. Dimaporo". He made non-notable (and possibly hoax) edits to several WP articles, such as Maranao, and he claimed to be a relative of several celebrities.

He has taken to rotating through numbered accounts (User:Socppt11, User:Socppt12, User:Socppt13, User:Socppt14). Some openly admit to being other versions of the sockpuppet numbering: "Somebody must take over editing the main page. Socppt's last words".
Aliases have included User:Lagrandebanquesucre, User:KarmasBlackSwan, User:Rememberkarma, User:Timothymak. User:Lagrandebanquesucre was a particularly egregious devious approach, which began by attacking User:Karmaisking. See also confirmed and suspected sockpuppets.
- Has admitted to having more active sockpuppets here.

Modus operandi
- Edits primarily on pages related to fractional reserve banking (e.g. criticism of fractional-reserve banking), the Austrian school of economics, and various other pages related to libertarian issues. He has also started editing articles on Keynesian economics and Keynesian economists in order to attack them.
- Extensive use of multiple sockpuppets at the same time. (See Sockpuppets of Karmaisking and Suspected sockpuppets of Karmaisking.)
- Uses throwaway accounts or anon IPs that geolocate to Australia.
- Often claims to be a new user, starting off with innocuous edits, sometimes even attacking or reverting a previous known sock.
- Uses misleading edit summaries, sometimes claims to revert the edit of another sock in order to hide the edits.

Lemons&Limes (talk · contribs) and Tiscali UK IP addresses in the 88.108.x.x range inserts unsourced, often non-sensical mentions of "male" or "boys" or "men" in fashion articles, often suggesting that unisex items of clothings are worn more by men or that female apparel is worn commonly by men. The user sometimes inserts red herring links, and when the edits are reverted, accuses other users of vandalism ([67], [68]).
88.108.x.x IP addresses (it's a pretty wide range of dynamic IP addresses - way too many to list here, though I'd be happy to pick out examples) make similar edits in fashion articles, but also edits in articles on sexual abuse, and makes edits suggesting that males are equally victims of crimes such as rape and frotteurism.

Indef blocked user Consist still disrupting
User:Consist has been indef blocked for persistent WP:DE and POV-pushing. Someone claiming to be Consist and pushing the same POV has been using several IP addresses from a fairly narrow range to clutter Talk:Clade with rambling POV pushing posts. I have made an effort to list sources relevant to the issue in question and offered that, if Consist would shut up, I'd investigate it - and noted that cladistics seems to be less well accepted among botanists (apparently Consist's background) than among zoologists. Nevertheless "Consist" threatens to keep disrupting unless his(?) POV is incorporated into the article, and has just posted another few thousand chars of rant. Erik Young is a vandal who has been posting diatribes into articles since 2007, mainly relating to Thai police, CIA Mafia, criminals, corruption, murder, heroin, prostitution, satanists, and a stolen ATM card. He usually signs his posts with "Erik J Young, UN Human Rights Ambassador". He is known to have posted the same rants on many other websites and forums. If given the opportunity he will edit around 20 articles at a time, sometimes more than once a day. The most seriously affected articles are: Royal Thai Police, Pattaya, and Phuket Province. Other articles targeted are Thailand-related such as Bangkok, Prostitution in Thailand, Isan as well as articles on major organisations and international figures (Scotland Yard, NATO, Central Intelligence Agency, Time Warner, Colin Powell, etc) and major countries and cities (London, New York, Malaysia, etc). He is also known to have a fixation with Weybridge, Woking, and Surrey Police.

This user is the sockpuppeteer of a huge number of sockpuppets who claims they are part of a group of over 50 who's purpose is to spread (mostly false) anti-soy bean propeganda through various articles on Wikipedia using strongarm tactics and sockpuppets to stop any other editors from disputing the statments.[89]See Talk:Soy protein and Talk:Biological value as one example. Favorite targets include articles on soy, soy protein, biological value, whey protein, PDCAAS, Sodium dodecyl sulfate and articles related to vegan dieting. This user or users is not particularly bright or well versed with regards to Wikipedia rules, however they are persistant, and will often resort to revert wars. User was most active in 2006 and 2007, however recently (January 2009)[90] two more sockpuppets were confirmed by checkuser bringing the total number of confirmed [91],[92] and suspected sockpuppets to 62.
This user has made user of a number of sockpuppets in order to spam a narrow range of articles and harass users.
Modus operandi
The user operates one or at most two sockpuppets at a time.
A new account is created as soon as the old one is accused of sockpuppetry. The account often but not always lays low for a few days to a week, making trivial edits. Then the account begins editing beer-related pages en masse. On their own each edit has the superficial appearance of being constructive, but form part of a pattern of spamming and harassment.
Upon being challenged, the user begins mass reverting, usually with identical edit summaries again. He maintains the veneer of civility but does not respond to discussion and removes comments and warnings on his talk page without reply. Generally he demands that any reversion be taken to the talk page. He may leave comments on talk pages warning people not to revert his edits.
Typical identifiers for the user are:
- Identical edits to a number of articles, each with the same edit summary
- Identification of legitimate edits as vandalism ([93])
- User page and talk page each containing identical, short, nonsensical sentences: [94] [95]
- Fixation with the BJCP and adding links to its style guide on beer-related pages

Jason Giambi vandal
This is a coordinated attack by various sockpuppets who attempt to insert a variation on a copyrighted article about baseball player Jason Giambi as part of a bogus religion with Giambi as the object of their "worship." There are no particular sockpuppet naming conventions, but the contributions are generally variations on the name Giambi, i.e., "Giambiology," "Giambiosis," etc. Socks have been known to attack user pages and talk pages of administrators and others who report their misbehavior either via both registered accounts and anonymous IPs.

Modus operandi is hard to describe, but obvious when found. Fond of nonsense made-up words, such as "ba-limp" and various attempts at onomatopaeia. Edits an extremely eclectic but relatively limited array of articles such as The Portsmouth Herald, Joel Gertner, Emilio Delgado, Bert (Sesame Street), Candlepin bowling, Losin' Myself, Jon Bauman. Only consistent area of focus is National Wrestling Federation and various wrestlers' articles, especially Andre the Giant.
Vandalism is low-volume but very persistent. Often gets verbally aggressive when discovered or reverted, but gives up fairly quickly—until the next time. Often blanks his socks' user talk pages to remove warnings and block notices.
The edits appear to be from IP addresses assigned to the Palace Station casino—apparently public terminals. Probably a group of kids or other immature people, rather than a single vandal.
Seth Hilton/DrVince vandal
Seth hilton discography (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) This user, who may be based in New Zealand, professes to be a pop music singer by the name of Seth Hilton. He has a good grasp of wiki formatting and often inserts photos of a person presumed to be this user; the poor quality photos with superimposed text are generally that of a slender teenaged boy wearing a pink Halloween wig. Sockpuppet accounts are often the names of his "singles" and are sometimes proceeded by the name "DrVince." Articles are about his "singles," his non-existent record label known as "LollyStick Records" and a bogus television program, "Cindy and the TV Show." A sockpuppet account used this as a username. Like MascotGuy, Seth Hilton often uses one account to create multiple sockpuppets and does not interact with other users. Grammar, spelling and syntax are poor while the content/context of the articles are mixed bags of fantasy with fact, although the facts are often unrelated to the subject. An example would be a synopsis of the TV show that made use of Sesame Street characters.
Long-term abuse including removal of reliable sources from Taiwan-related articles: [103] [104] [105]. Also makes IP edits to bypass inspection and hides this POV-pushing changes behind fake edit summaries such as "minor edit", "repair vandalism" or "revert to good version". - I concur that the editor rarely contributes anything useful. Most of his edits are small edits that attempt to change an established way of referring to something to a way that he prefers and that fits a POV. The editor almost never contributes to discussion. Being stubborn on Wikipedia is relatively acceptable, but in Eeeeeewtw's case it was pure vandalism since he's never been bothered to discuss his changes, and was using multiple sockpuppets to push his POV and bypass inspection. The Terry Ananny Spammer (User:Ananny)
Persistent cross-wiki spammer and sock-puppeteer since at least December 2006[108]- ongoing as of March 2009. Uses multiple IPs originating in the Toronto area to add the name of Terry M. Ananny, a non notable artist (as independently established in two independent discussions on the German Wikipedia and the [ English Wikipedia) to List of Canadian artists, List of Canadian painters, Naive art, Christmas card, and other pages. Variations include "paintings reproduced on UNICEF cards", the creation of useless interwiki links, an external link to the artist's website, and the addition of {{unreferenced}} tags to those same pages.
Created Terry Ananny, which was deleted[109], (now indefinitely protected[110] because of repeated attempts to re-create the article) despite attempts to interfere with the AFD process using the sock User:Jane Rushmore. Created List of Canadian Contemporary Painters under the account User:CanadianArtworks in an attempt to escape notice of vandalism on List of Canadian painters. Has also attempted to create articles on herself using variations on spelling, such as TERRY ANANNY, Terry Marie Ananny, Terry M Ananny Terry ananny or Terry M. Ananny. This editor, presumably the artist herself, is unlikely to stop any time soon. She believes that:

ECW500
ECW500 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is a chronic sockpuppeteer who primarily attacks articles on professional wrestling, especially RD Reynolds and Wrestlecrap. Usernames usually, but not always, impersonate or attack legitimate user GaryColemanFan. Other usernames may be variations on the original name, such as User:XPW500. His other target article is that of the breakfast cereal, Fruity Pebbles. Active since 2006 and blocked since 2007, ECW500 has become active of late and is less than subtle about his return with such usernames as User:GaryColmanFan2 Electric Boogaloo. Grammar, syntax and spelling are generally poor and inappropriate remarks are often left in edit summaries.
Vandal has announced that he is "reformed", yet continues to add spam to articles, and harass other wikipedia editors.
Joe Castillo Dr. ?
Joe Castillo Dr. ? (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), who also refers to himself as "Dr. Questionmark" and/or variations thereof, is an immature sockpuppeteer who has promised on his now-blocked talk page to disrupt this site via various sockpuppet accounts. Most usernames are obvious variations on the "Dr. Questionmark" theme, making it clear this individual is craving attention for his actions; this is particularly evident by his frequent insertion of the name "Joe Castillo." User tends to leave taunts on the talk pages of administrators and the userpages of his sockpuppets, vowing to continue to disrupt this site via any and all available internet sources, including his school IP. Edits to articles range from subtle to outright vandalism. Subjects tend to vary, but many targeted subjects have been on the subject of the US state of New Jersey. It is believed that this user edits primarily from his high school IP in that state. Admins are advised to block on sight and to block access to the talk page(s) due to abuse. Use of the "blocked sockpuppet" template is not recommended under WP:DENY.
According to a recent checkuser report, the original account may have been User:The cheapo.
- User is frequently entering 'Joe Castillo' since being blocked as a sockpuppet. And is using various accounts on new themes aside from Dr Questionmark. Willy on Wheels impersonator/"Joker" vandal
This "user" is likely an offsite coordinated attack that vandalizes under the guise of a long-ago banned user, Willy on Wheels. Usernames are either variations of "Willy on Wheels" with alternate spellings or languages or may be anti-Semitic in nature. Edits to the article space are often anti-Semitic, often insult legitimate users and admins who intervene against the attacks and often use alternate letters and symbols in order to bypass the abuse filters. Other edits evoke another long-banned user, Wikipedia Is Communism. Warnings on the talk pages do no good, so WP:DENY is recommended.
A similar effort appeared at about the same time as this impersonator; sockpuppet accounts often appear hand in hand. Dubbed the "Joker Vandal," most of the sockpuppet accounts are clear references to The Joker. MO is similar, with the socks attacking userpages of blocking admins. This particular effort recently hijacked a user's legitimate request for a name change, claiming the changed name as his own and attacking talk pages. The result was the block of an innocent user, since reversed.
AnonTalk
A user running solely on IP proxies keeps adding a link to www.AnonTalk.com. He is now separating the URL into parts in hopes of bypassing the several edit filters set up to catch him. Abuse Filter ID #7, #215, #228, and #230 are in effect to stop this. The site's webmaster Kimmo Alm has also been spamming blogs and various open-edit style forums, particularly 4chan, since before Spring 2008.

Things to mention when reporting them:
- The spam and how they are on Wikipedia Abuse Filter #7 for spam. Show them http://www.archivum.info/wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org/2008-06/msg00904.html and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:AbuseFilter. When showing them, give the links to the abuse filter details showing the spam flooding in. Abuse filter #7, #215, #228, and #230. Mention that they should click the buton "details" on each spam to see the fill diff of the spam.
- Point out how the only if you search google news for their site's name with a full archive search, the only mention is of them attacking other websites: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,534941,00.html http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=92767742
- Mention how in the "hot topics" of the forum, how most stuff is about CP. PRQ doesn't care about this, but combined with the other issues, it's still worth a mention. Mentioning this to every other place will make them take more notice of the spam reports.

Modus operandi: Creating many vandalism/attack pages, often with titles insulting or attacking administrators, and posting them all at once. These pages often contain a large image and/or code boxes with text similar to that found on many welcome messages (i.e.:

An article without references may quickly be deleted. * You can also start your new article at Special:MyPage/Parent-of-origin effect. You can develop the article, with less risk of deletion, ask other editors to help work on it, and move it into "article space" when it is ready.

This person seems to come back every once in a while (probably after their autoblock expires) to vandalize. User:Bags of atoms was probably not the first sock, but it is the first known to me.

Genesis vandal (Aka user:Tile join)
Persistently creates new accounts to vandalise Evolution, Talk:Evolution, and/or user pages. Replaces text of the article, or user pages of people who revert his edits, with text from Genesis (eg diff). May be sockpuppets of User:Barbary lion. The first incident occurred February 5, 2007. Typical attacks happen in spurts, with a new sock deployed as the previous sock is blocked, and are conducted by usernames registered earlier to bypass semiprotection. Usernames are typically meaningless combinations of a few letters or short words, and are often created in batches. There have been over 500 confirmed socks and additional suspected socks.
Aside from the "Genesis" attacks, the user also blanks pages, replaces with other material (such as text from the Qu'ran), or adds {{humor}} tags. The user has also engaged in long-term edit wars at other pages, including Northwich Victoria F.C., VICS and Witton Albion F.C., and, per checkuser, Winshill.
As of 2009, he is also repeatedly removing the cover picture of the Virgin Killer album and is still vandalising Evolution with his freshly seasoned sockpuppets.
Both the biblical and the koranic version of this vandal also appear to be active at other sites such as EvoWiki a free wiki encyclopedia of evolution and biology written from a pro evolution point of view.[135][136][137][138][139][140][141][142]--Fang 23 (talk) 02:47, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Originally banned as static IP address User:195.82.106.244 for one year for making threats [143] and later indefinitely blocked as user User:Lucyintheskywithdada, refered to as Lucy, for sockpuppetry and persistent disruption of WP:ANI. Has reincarnated under various usernames and IP addresses that, after the UK-based 195.82.106.244, are usually based in Japan. Main subject areas of interest have been the BKWSU orgainisation, Spiritualism and Japan-related subjects. He is known to be the administrator of an anti-BKWSU website, http://www.brahmakumaris.info and as such has a particular fascination with the BKWSU and related articles of which he has been the principle editor under many usernames.

Violations of WP:BULLY, WP:DRAMA, WP:HARASS, WP:CIVIL, WP:NPA, WP:AGF, WP:RS, WP:OR, WP:OWN, WP:NPOV, WP:BATTLE, WP:OUTING, WP:SOAPBOX.
Lucy comes into conflict with editors by assuming bad faith and editing in a biased, forceful and aggressive way. Any editor trying to deal with this behaviour is targeted and often accused of having some agenda or conflict of interest. This develops into a conspiracy theory that is used to justify his war against that editor. Lucy will argue endlessly and give no ground on any issue either about an article or his own behaviour.
Lucy has targeted certain editors, such as User:Bksimonb and others including admins, by outing [144], taunting, sustained on-wiki [145] and off-wiki [146][147] personal attacks and character assassination, stalking [148] and canvassing any admins involved in re-blocking him [149]. His attacks focus on the affiliations, religious or cultural background of his target and takes the form of a propaganda campaign. He uses extensive blame-reversal, for example:
- Disrupts an article with a succession of sock puppets making contentious edits with attacking edit comments then accuses his target(s) of edit waring as they clean up after him
- Accuses his target of being a "fanatic" yet constantly and angrily expresses a fanatical viewpoint
- Accuses his target of having some sort of agenda yet clearly operates to an agenda
- Accuses his target of wanting to control an article yet imposes his POV with a succession of sock puppets and will jump any hurdle to get there, in particular, the BKWSU article
Lucy will not accept, and will always contest, any sanctions, including his ban [150].
He has also sent aggressive emails to what he believes are an editors superiors demanding that they stop his target editing Wikipedia. His original ban was for threatening to contact an editor's employer in this way.

User:JoeHalezon has been cyberstalking User:Goethean and other users since 2006, when he was involved in a conflict over the articles Peter Roskam and Tammy Duckworth. Recently, he has been nominating for deletion articles that User:Goethean created.[151]
He generally edits, from a pro-Republican viewpoint, articles relating to far western suburban Chicago politicians. He has a poor command of the English language, and speaks Polish. If his efforts are undermined, he will appear to explode with child-like, semi-coherent rage, often riddled with obscenities and with references to homosexuality, Marxism, the Chicago Outfit, Barack Obama, etc.
He used to post to Wikipediareview.com under the name Joseph100[152], was reportedly banned from the site, and now posts under the username 'victim of censorship'.[153]

At various times, the user replaced Mr. Wick's profile with ebonics, vulgar nonsense, and even Fall Out Boy lyrics.
